This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.
When I lived in Dalton, I was a regular customer at Walgreens. Not only did I shop there, but I filled my prescriptions there as well.
Now that I’ve moved, we don’t have a Walgreens in town and I have had to go elsewhere for my drug store needs, so I haven’t kept abreast of news regarding Walgreens and Express Script. Walgreens tried to negotiate terms with Express Script to continue as part of its pharmacy provider network last year and, when the two parties weren’t able to reach an agreement, the contract between the two was terminated as of Dec. 31, 2011. This affects both Walgreens and Duane Reed stores.
Now, patients on Express Script plans have to change their pharmacists and drive farther to get their prescriptions filled, which can be a hassle with hectic schedules. In an effort to help customers, Walgreens is offering a special discount on an annual membership in its Walgreens Prescription Savings Club. For $10 a year, a family membership will cover a spouse and all dependent children age 22 and younger. Individuals can join for $5. Club members receive discounts on prescriptions, flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers and diabetic supplies. There are also bonuses when you purchase Walgreens brand prodcts and photo finishing services.
