Disney Fans

How many of you are Disney fans? I’m a huge Disney fan, though probably not as big of one as Lisa! I have almost all of the Disney movies, and I love watching them. Joe and I have decided that we want to get them all on DVD for our kids (which now involves me constantly saying, “(insert name here) is going back into the Disney vault! We have to go get a copy!). But Joe goes along with it because he rocks.

One of my favorite memories involves Disney movies. My best friend, Penny, had a sleepover/Disney movie marathon at her house one weekend. I don’t even think we got through the first movie before we fell asleep. What a marathon, huh? But, it was still a lot of fun.

I have a hard time picking my all-time favorite Disney movie. I love The Lion King, Pocahontas and The Little Mermaid (and the music from those movies is fabulous). Here’s my top 15 Disney characters (in random order):
1. Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
2. Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
3. Pocahontas (Pocahontas)
4. Pumba (The Lion King)
5. Timon (The Lion King)
6. Wall-E (Wall-E)
7. Eva (Wall-E)
8. Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)
9. Dumbo (Dumbo)
10. Aladdin (Aladdin)
11. Jasmine (Aladdin)
12. Remy (Ratatouille)
13. Linguine (Ratatouille)
14. Woody (Toy Story)
15. Cinderella (Cinderella)

I just found out they have a Disney Bingo game now, which is perfect for kids. I bet Lisa will get one from her local drugstore for her adorable niece! I’d like to get one for my nephew and, obviously, for my kids whenever we have them. It seems pretty neat. You can also purchase a game online at amazon.com or drugstore.com, which is much more convenient than having to go find one in a store.

So now it’s your turn. What are your favorite Disney movies and characters?

meeting the family

callie met both sides of the family this weekend (including pets), and boy was she in control. on saturday, we headed up to my parents’ house to celebrate my mom’s birthday and introduce everyone to callie. i’m glad we were able to be there since ryan is in taiwan and randy was camping. plus, bomma made yet another yummy meal, which was constantly interrupted by callie trying to knock paintings off the walls, hitting one of the dogs and jumping on the table numerous times. finally, she settled down when mom held her.

she’s pretty cute when she’s sleeping, huh?

that night, we had dinner at gondolier, went grocery shopping and then watched “21”, which was a pretty good movie. we have really exciting lives, don’t we?

on sunday, we had our usual cookout, and joe’s parents stopped by on their way home from the cabin to meet callie. joe grilled steaks (and a black bean griller for me), and we had potato salad, baked beans and chips — a typical cookout meal but quite yummy.

i bought some really pretty flowers for my kitchen table, which callie knocked over before the in-laws arrived, spilling water *everywhere*. she got real quiet, though, when i told her i was going to take her back to the humane society. haha.

sophie, mom and dad s’s dog, was more than ready to leave. she is not a fan of cats, especially bold ones like callie. i swear, that cat has absolutely no fear.

and now, another week begins. i have to say, i’m ready for the next weekend.

weekend recap

we had a fun, relaxing weekend. well, relaxing for the most part. as i mentioned before, we headed to atlanta early saturday morning for my ultrasound, which was a total bust. i’m still bummed about it.

after we got home, we slept for about four hours, and then joe went to the park for his run. instead of a 10-mile run like he had planned, he ended up doing only 8 miles because of the intense heat. i don’t blame him. i don’t know how he runs when the temperatures are as high as they are here.

that night, we met joe’s parents in kennesaw to see “the dark knight“. it was fabulous. it was very dark, as the reviews had said, but definitely was the best movie of the year so far. heath ledger definitely was the best actor. i know that’s being said a lot since his death, but it’s the truth. his performance was amazing. aaron eckhart, who played the district attorney/two face, was awesome as well. several people brought their children, which surprised us. it was *not* a good movie for kids.

sunday was a nice day as well. i worked in the morning, and when i came home i helped joe plant our crape myrtle. we’ve decided to to do a row of these trees in front of our house, which i think will be very pretty. add a white fence and you’ve got a pretty idylic scene. it’s funny because i’ve never noticed these trees before, but now that we have one i see them all over the place.

we also went to bruster’s and shared a hot fudge brownie sundae (yum!) before returning home to watch the braves game. really, though, it wasn’t a game. it was more batting practice for the nationals. and, as i said to joe, what does it say about the braves when they lose 15-6 to the worst team in the national league? not a whole lot, i’m afraid.

our regular sunday night shows made for a perfect end to the day.

now it’s your turn. what did you do this weekend?

the best laid plans

my plan for saturday:
sleep in
get up and go to church

what actually happened:
got up at 7 a.m. because joe saw julius’ ear was full of black gunk
puttered around until 9 a.m. when the vet’s office opened because i couldn’t go back to sleep
took julius to the vet
came home
cleaned up cat throw up all over the hallway
laid down because my stomach cramps were about to kill me
went to pick julius up

the rest of the night was great. we ordered “27 dresses” on pay per view (loved it!) and relaxed. of course, giving julius the first of 42 doses of ear drops wasn’t great, but we came out unscathed and without scratches, so we’ll take it.

today, joe is at a meeting for all the club presidents in our kiwanis district. i’m going to spend the afternoon working on a scrapbook i’m making of harrison’s first year. it’ll be his birthday present, but i don’t think ryan and ori will mind if i give it to them before they leave. i’m sure everyone in the family will want to see it!

what did you do this weekend?

back to the routine

now that my work schedule is back to normal, i’m back to working out. for the few weeks, my schedule has been out of whack, and i’ve had to go in to work earlier than normal. because of the fatigue from the arthritis, i’m *really* tired when i get home (as in i could go to sleep for the night), so i’ve missed my workouts. plus, i’ve been nervous since i spent the last, what, six months or so working out regularly and not losing weight. i’m scared that will happen again. it felt good to workout again today, though. my first set on the bike was rough, and i was really feeling out of shape, but after that i was fine.

cardio: 40 min.
weights/abs: 15 min.

yesterday, joe took me to see sex and the city. he was one of four men in the theater, but i think he liked it … at least a little. i saw him laughing at parts, and he’s grown to like the show as much as a guy can since he watched the series with me. i was a little surprised by the movie because the previews made me think it was going to be totally different. it was a great movie though, and a great end to the series. have any of you seen it, or are you planning to see it?

friday favorites

  • the wii. i’m still addicted to mario kart and guitar hero III. joe has added mario galaxy to his stack of favorite games. we’re going to have a blast at the cabin with the wii this weekend.
  • my new red shoes! they are the first pair of shoes that are not white, black or brown. i *love*them, and it’s nice to get some color in my usual black/gray outfits. plus, they’re super cute and really comfy. i want to get them in brown now too. i need another good pair of brown pumps.
  • army wives. i *love* this show, and i’m rewatching the first season in anticipation of season 2, which starts a week from sunday. i can’t wait!
  • satc: the movie. it comes out tonight! we’re going sunday since we’ll be at the cabin this weekend, and i am so excited! i have been counting down to this since the movie was announced.
  • having lunch with my husband. i love the fact that he works in town now. there’s nothing better than seeing him for lunch or just a quick visit during the day.
  • so what are your favorite things today?
