When I Said ‘I Do’ — Toddle Along Tuesday

I’m linking up today with Growing Up Geeky.

Last month, we celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long. We’ve had highs and lows. We’ve laughed together and cried together. And, through it all, there’s no one else I’d rather have by my side.

I think about my wedding day a lot since I manage a wedding group’s Facebook page and post about weddings every day. So, since today’s Toddle Along Tuesday theme is weddings, I’m going to share some of my pictures with you. We had a small ceremony and a fun reception afterward. I walked down the aisle to the music of a string quartet. My parents did everything to make my wedding dreams come true without breaking the bank. It was perfect.

Happy Valentine’s Day, You Have Strep Throat

Instead of going to work today and getting Valentine’s gifts delivered by my husband, I’m at home. On the couch. Wishing I could die.

Ok, so maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but I’m pretty darn miserable. It all started last night when my sinuses began acting up. I figured it was the beginnings of a sinus infection (which I get quite often), and went to bed hoping a good night’s rest would help me feel a little bit better.

But, when I woke up this morning, I felt worse. I really wanted to put off going to the doctor until tomorrow since Lucy’s babysitter is sick, too, but I was miserable enough that I decided it was worth it to go with the girl who fusses.

As is usually the case, Lucy was great for a while, and then she got tired of being restrained in her stroller and started to fuss. And fuss. And fuss. I finally gave in and took her out and, as soon as I did, they called me back. Because that’s exactly how it happens, right?

Back in the stroller she went, and let me tell you, the girl was NOT happy. She had a meltdown while I sat and had my blood pressure taken and the nurse glared at her (which was after a woman in the waiting room glared at her for fussing). She’s a baby, people. Deal with it. My blood pressure? 146/90. Not really surprising.

I finally saw the nurse practitioner and expected to be sent on my merry way with my usual prescription for a sinus infection. Nope. She took one look at my throat and said, “Yep, you’ve got strep.” She offered to do a test but said that since I had white bumps all over my throat, she was going to treat me anyway.

Sigh. So, I’ve been on the couch all day because I’m nauseous and just feeling miserable all over. Lucy’s been allowed to watch as much PBS Kids as she wants. I know. I’m “Mother of the Year”. But, when you’re sick and have no energy and just want to sleep, what are you going to do? At least she watched educational shows. 🙂

Tonight, Joe and I will celebrate Valentine’s Day by exchanging gifts (his will be unwrapped since it needed to go in a card, and I was planning on buying said card today until, you know, I got diagnosed with strep) while sitting a good distance away from each other so I don’t get him sick. Romantic, I know. At least we went out to dinner on Saturday night.

Next year, we will fulfill this year’s Valentine’s night plans of having a romantic, candlelight dinner at Waffle House. Because that’s how we roll, and how many other people can say that’s where they had their romantic dinner? Next year.

30 Years

Today is my fabulous husband’s 30th birthday! Yep, he’s an old man now! Since been celebrating for the last few weeks with his surprise party and the baseball game we went to on Wednesday night, I hope he still feels special today!

When he arrived at work, he found his cubicle decorated with pictures of his favorite celebrity: Robert Pattinson. Seriously, Joe is big into the Twilight books. 🙂 And, no, I didn’t do that. It was the work of his Twilight-loving coworkers.

Happy birthday, honey. I love you!

Three years ago today, I married my best friend.

Each year since has been better than the last, and this year is no exception. This year, we got the ultimate gift.

And next year will be even better than this one because we’ll have our little girl with us. I can’t wait.

I have a late meeting tonight, so we won’t get to see much of each other today. We’ll celebrate with pizza tonight, and on Saturday night we’re going out for our real anniversary dinner. Joe is taking me to Provinos, my favorite restaurant. Yum!

Happy Anniversary, honey! I love you!

Show Us Your Life — Wedding Receptions and Honeymoons

When we planned our wedding, we made everything really simple by having the ceremony and reception at the same location, a historic courthouse. Since we had our ceremony inside (darn the hot temperature!), we had the food inside and tables outside for eating and mingling. It really worked out well.

There was cake. The wedding cake was *supposed* to be an almond cake, but somehow it got messed up and we had just a plain cake with buttercream icing. It was still good, though. Joe’s groom’s cake was a cookie cake because Joe absolutely loves cookie cakes.

And, of course, we did the bouquet and garter tosses. My niece, Amber, and Joe’s cousin, Ryan, caught them respectively.

And, there was the traditional Jewish chair dance. I was *terrified* while I was up there because it felt like my brothers were trying to tip me off my chair!

We spent our honeymoon in Boston. There was one specific reason we chose that location.

Yes, we’re baseball-crazed people! We also toured a *lot* of the historical sites and went on a whale watching cruise. It was so much fun. We can’t wait to go back.
