Show Us Your Life – Halloween Costumes

I’m linking up with Kelly at Kelly’s Korner.

I love, love, LOVE Lucy’s Halloween costume for this year. Are you ready for it??

Is she not the cutest darn Tootsie Roll you’ve ever seen?? She even won second place in our city’s annual Kiddie Day Parade!

Last year, Lucy was — what else — Tigger! She thought it was SO COOL to dress up like her BFF, and they were super cute trick-or-treating together.

For her first Halloween, we dressed Lucy up like a monkey. We wanted to get her a Tigger costume that year but couldn’t find one. She was super adorable.

Now, it’s time to start thinking about next year. I want a super creative costume for the parade!

When I Said ‘I Do’ — Toddle Along Tuesday

I’m linking up today with Growing Up Geeky.

Last month, we celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long. We’ve had highs and lows. We’ve laughed together and cried together. And, through it all, there’s no one else I’d rather have by my side.

I think about my wedding day a lot since I manage a wedding group’s Facebook page and post about weddings every day. So, since today’s Toddle Along Tuesday theme is weddings, I’m going to share some of my pictures with you. We had a small ceremony and a fun reception afterward. I walked down the aisle to the music of a string quartet. My parents did everything to make my wedding dreams come true without breaking the bank. It was perfect.

A Day at the Park

Last weekend after being confined to the house for five days with a horrible sinus infection, I was feeling a bit better, so we took Lucy to the park. It was a beautiful day, and she had a great time. The pictures say it all.

Vacation, Day 2: Oh Say Can You See

We spent our second day of vacation in Baltimore. This was the day I was looking forward to the most, not just because of the Orioles game honoring Cal Ripken, Jr. that night but because Baltimore is my favorite city. I couldn’t wait to spend time there.

Our first stop was the Inner Harbor. We grabbed lunch at Uno’s (one of my favorite restaurants) and ate outside overlooking the water.

While we were eating, Lucy spotted dragon paddle boats, so we took her for a ride in the harbor. She had a blast, probably because she wasn’t the one paddling!

After our paddle boat ride, we toured the USS Constellation. Joe was super psyched about this. It was pretty neat, but I ended up dealing with a cranky toddler (that’s what happens when she misses her nap), which put a damper in things a little.

Lucy was so cranky that we picked this shirt up for her at the gift shop on the way out. We thought it was pretty appropriate. 🙂

I got to pick what we did next, so we headed over to Fort McHenry. Although I lived in the Baltimore/D.C. area for 14 years, that was the one place I had never visited. I’m really glad we went. It was so neat to stand in a fort that was built more than 200 years ago and to look out to the water where Francis Scott Key penned The Star Spangled Banner on a boat.

This is one of the “bombs bursting in air.”

After touring the fort, we trekked to Camden Yards for the Orioles game.

We got there several hours early but there were already THOUSANDS of people there. It was insane trying to get around. We ran into a TV reporter and told him our story of having traveled there from Atlanta specifically for that game. He wanted to interview us but, because of horrible cell service at the stadium, his text to us was delayed and we missed out on it.

It was neat getting to see Cal Ripken, Jr. honored as one of the Orioles greats. He has been my favorite baseball player since I was a child, and one of my best memories was getting to meet him in Atlanta. He’s a class act.

Despite not having had a nap, Lucy was pretty good for the game.

We hung out at our seats through about the 6th inning. After we left to try to meet up with the TV reporter, we stumbled upon the kid’s area. Lucy had SO much fun.

When we left, Lucy wanted her picture taken by all the players’ numbers out front. Because of course she did. And, no, I won’t show you them all. You’re welcome.

Up next, our trip to the National Zoo and Philadelphia!

Family Night Out

Last night, Joe and I had plans to drop Lucy off with a friend and have date night.

However, that fell through. So, instead of staying in, we decided to just take Lucy with us! We headed to Outback Steakhouse for dinner and then took Lucy for a surprise. What was her surprise, you ask?

We went to a nearby mall for some play time in the soft play area. We had forgotten the mall has a carousel, and Lucy was THRILLED when she saw it. She rode one for the first time last weekend at the zoo (more on that later), and she is OBSESSED now! We might have let her ride it twice. 🙂

Unfortunately, it was hard to get a shot while she was riding it, so this was the best I could do.

After the carousel, we hit up the soft play area, and then Lucy wanted to ride one of the mechanical cars before we left. Of course, she picked the one with Garfield.

It’s really hard to get a non-blurry shot when your child won’t stop moving! We had a great night, and now we’re looking forward to another family day with a cookout, cookie baking and a trip to the park!

She Knows how to Work It

Tonight, we grabbed dinner at Subway while we were out running errands. Lucy was in a mood and started banging on the window. By then, I’d had it with her, and I told her I was going to spank her because she wasn’t behaving.

She came up to me, patted my hand and said, “Don’t be sad, Mommy.”

I said, “I’m not said. I’m mad at you.”

She just kept patting my hand and said, “It’s OK. Don’t be sad.”

How can I be upset with her when all I want to do is laugh?? That girl really knows how to get herself out of trouble!
