six months

i can’t believe joe and i have already been dating for six months. it really doesn’t seem like that long. and, although this may seem odd, this is the longest relationship i’ve been in. that could be sad or good, depending on how you look at it. i see it as a good thing. i’m glad i figured out early that my past boyfriends just weren’t right for me.
i never thought joe and i would go out. we’ve been friends for more than two years and just from hearing things that he did for his ex-girlfriends i started becoming attracted to him. but i never thought we’d meet since he lived in georgia and i in tennessee, let alone date. the last time we both broke up with someone happened around the same time. we started talking more and more on the phone after work. it was nice to have some to vent to and just be there. then he asked if i wanted to do something one weekend. sure, i said, before mentioning that stacey, one of our mutual friends and her boyfriend could come along. always a good idea in case a date goes bad. this one, however, didn’t.
i was more nervous than i’d ever been. i thought he was cute, but i was sure he didn’t think the same about me. we saw bridget jones II and then went to chilis for dinner. it was a lot of fun. and then, when we got back to my house, he kissed me. we had a great first date that i’ll always remember.
we’ve had our ups and downs, our disagreements and arguments, but we always work through them and make sure to say, “i love you.” and joe is the most romantic guy i’ve ever dated, from surprising me with roses to buying me bridget jones II because it was what we saw on our first date to calling me this morning and saying, “happy six month anniversary. i love you.”
joe and i just fit together perfectly. i’ve never felt more comfortable with someone. and i know we’ll have many many more anniversaries.

i love blonde jokes

these jokes are always so funny…

a blonde decided to try horseback riding, even though she has had no lessons or prior experience.

he mounts the horse unassisted and the horse immediately springs into motion.

it gallops along at a steady and rhythmic pace, but the blonde begins to slip from the saddle! in terror, she grabs for the horse’s mane, but cannot seem to get a firm grip.

she tries to throw her arms around the horse’s neck, but she slides down the side of the horse anyway.

the horse gallops along, seemingly ignorant of its slipping rider.

finally, giving up her frail grip, the blonde attempts to leap away from the horse and throw herself to safety.

unfortunately, her foot becomes entangled in the stirrup, and she is now at the mercy of the horse’s pounding hooves as her head is struck against the ground over and over.

as her head is battered against the ground, she is mere moments away from unconsciousness when to her great fortune, bobby, the wal-mart greeter, sees her and unplugs the horse.

thank God for heroes.

my first star wars experience

this may get me in trouble with some star wars fanatics, but i really didn’t think episode III was all that it was hyped up to be. i did like seeing how anakin became darth vader, and the fighting scenes were pretty cool, but towards the end i thought it got slow. there were several places it could have ended — such as with darth vader and his master staring out of their base — but it just kept going. maybe it’s just that this isn’t the type of movie i normally watch. *shrug*

it was fun, though, watching the people who came out for the sneak preview last night. most people were dressed in robes, but one came into the theater dressed either as chewy or an ewok…we couldn’t decide which. then, two boys got into a light saber fight in the front of the theater. the three guy sitting behind us (who hummed the star wars theme whenever someone in costume walked in) egged them on by shouting, “go for the knees! go for the knees!” the fight happened when joe and phillip were out buying food. they didn’t seem to think they had missed anything. hehe.
