sparks of jealousy

my fiance is a wanted man.

yes ladies, now that he’s about to tie the knot the flirtatious girls are coming out of the woodworks. one of his friends wanted to come by here the day before the wedding and sent him a curt email when he told her that wasn’t appropriate, and now a teacher at his school has been flirting with him. it’s so funny to hear himi recount her attempts. “so what are you doing this weekend? i have plans saturday, but i’m not doing anything friday night…”

the other day, he gave him a baseball bat pin she bought for him at a chattanooga lookouts minor league baseball game. however, when she went to his office to give it to him, she was able to see my pictures on his desk, including the one in a frame that says “i love you.”

sure, i have a few pangs of jealous, but i’m mainly amused. i think it’s funny hearing how women are trying to hit on my soon-to-be husband. and, i must admit, i like having a man who is wanted. girls can hit on him all they want, but at the end of the day, he’s coming home to and falling asleep with me! 🙂

perfect present

joe and i exchanged wedding presents tonight. i gave him the book “running with scissors” by augustin burrows and a journal in which i recorded my thoughts and feelings leading up to the wedding. he loved them, especially the journal. i’ve never seen him that touched by a present before.

joe gave me a gorgeous silver charm bracelet with a purse charm. i absolutely love it. it’s so perfect, because i’m a purseaholic and a shopaholic. he said there were other charms he wants to add to it. it also has a heart that we are going to get engraved after the wedding. man. i never want to take it off. 🙂

he also has something he’s having delivered to me on the wedding day. i’m so curious as to what it is. he was picking up something at the mall today, and then said he has other things to pick tomorrow at the mall.

have i mentioned lately how much i love my fiance?

3 days to go

joe and i are going out tonight to celebrate our last night alone together before the wedding. we’re going to the mall to get the kate spade purse i’ve been wanting (yay!), and then out to eat, probably at either olive garden or chilis. yum. 🙂

this morning, i’m off to the spa. i’m getting a french manicure and pedicure, and my usual facial waxings. woo hoo. i’d like to get a massage and maybe a facial after the wedding. i just don’t have time for that now.

last night, joe interviewed san francisco giants coach felipe alou. he was as giddy as a little boy when he called me afterward, gushing about how great alou is. i asked if he saw barry bonds. “i sat right next to him,” he said. he spent about an hour and a half just hanging out in the giants’ clubhouse before the interview, which i bet was just so exciting for an avid baseball fan like him. i was excited for him. and a little jealous…when i interviewed cal ripken jr., i didn’t get to go in the clubhouse! 😉

now i’m off to pack, pack, pack and clean out my dining room so the boys can bring my china cabinet in tomorrow. yippee! now i can put *all* my dishes in there and use my meager cabinet space for glasses.

is it here yet?

yay! i got my fourth place setting. woo. now i can have a dinner party. i’ve been dying to have one. i’ve been in such a domesticated mood lately. hehe.

i am so ready for the wedding to be here. i’ve been so stressed, and let me tell you, i’ve lost 4-5 pounds over the last week or so. and i’m not even eating well! heh. the other night i had french fries *and* fried mushrooms (my weakness!) with my veggie wrap and my clothes are still looser on me. if this is a side effect of the stress, i think i’ll take it. maybe i should be stressed out more often! hehe. i just can’t wait for saturday to be here. i love the sabbath because i can relax, and it’ll be even better with all our family here. then saturday night, the festivities begin!

rain, rain go away

it is supposed to rain on my wedding day, with the highest liklihood at 2 p.m. when the ceremony begins. this is what i’ve dreaded my entire life. who wants it to rain when they get married? i really wanted my pictures after the ceremony, as well as the dancing, outside. if it rains, we will have a logistical nightmare with the dancing in the foyer!

rain has been in the forecast every day this week, and so far we’ve lucked out for the most part with the exception of a brief shower here and there. however, i’ve never been a very lucky person, so i’m sure that on sunday it will all come to a head and there will be a monsoon. i’m not joking. really. i’m that unlucky.

so, please, pray that the rain holds off until monday. i will be praying and obsessively watching the weather.

4 days to go

i figured by this point i would be able to relax and enjoy the last few days before the wedding. i think this is the busiest i’ve been. it’s amazing how many little things you don’t really think about. i need to figure out which prescriptions i need to take with me and get refills, clean out the refridgerator and freezer, pack, do laundry, pack cat toys, get a list of songs we want at the reception to the dj, make the timeline for the wedding day for our attendants, confirm our hotel and flight reservations, etc. it seems like i’m always adding something to my neverending to-do list.

i think joe has it right. we’ll be excited when we’re on the plane heading to boston. 🙂
