New Museum on TV

The first week at the new museum was absolutely amazing. They had 2,300 visitors, and all but 650 were on Saturday and Sunday. Pretty incredible, huh? The weekdays will be slow, at least until school gets out for the summer, but I expect the weekends to continue to be crazy busy.

I’m sure a lot of the traffic is a result of all the news coverage of the opening. There were stories on two Atlanta TV stations, one of which you can check out here. He also was on the American Free Thought podcast this week, and he did a video tour, which was posted on the Rome News-Tribune’s Web site.

Shoe Addiction

I have a lot of shoes. As I mentioned in a comment conversation on Facebook last night, my closet is filled with shoes, and now I’ve begun to take over Joe’s closet. I’m out of room in my own. But, to me, they’re necessary. Joe doesn’t understand why I have so many pairs. He thinks I only need three pairs — a black pair, a brown pair and a pair of tennis shoes. Sigh. Men.

I have a bunch of sets of dress shoes, most of which are black. I’ve been trying to break out of that and purchase some more colorful shoes to add to my outfits. My favorite is a pair of red peeptoe pumps. I really need a strappy pair of red shoes, though, to wear with my little black dress. The peeptoes won’t really work with that.

I also have two pairs of boots. Last year, I had just a pair of black boots and discovered I really didn’t have anything to wear with my brown outfits. So, this year, I purchased a pair of brown boots, and I wear either those or the black ones every day, especially since it’s been so cold out. They’re the same style, though, and the colors are *so* close that I usually have to compare boot-to-boot to make sure I wear the right ones. Haha.

I really want to get a new pair to wear for a gala we’re going to on Valentine’s night. I’m not a big fan of pantyhose at all. I refuse to wear it. So, I think I have a long enough dress to wear but, since it’s black, I’d like to get some color in my shoes. If I don’t end up finding any, that’s fine, but it’s something I’ll be looking for between now and then. It’s a good thing Target and Cato usually have cute shoes at good prices.

So how about you — are you as into shoes as I am? If not, what’s your weakness?

Warning: Super Cute Cat Pictures Ahead

Callie is attached to Dizzy. She follows him everywhere, and she cuddles up to him every day to sleep. It’s rare to find the two of them apart, much to Dizzy’s dismay, I’m sure. Yesterday, though, took the cake. I saw this:

Yes, they are snuggled together in a gift bag of all places! I called Joe to tell him, and he made me send pictures as proof. He didn’t believe me. 🙂

I sometimes wonder if AJ feels leftout, but I think he’s mainly relieved not to have Callie attached to his side.

Couch Potatos on the Road

The Couch Potato boys hit the road last night and had their first live remote. The Couch Potato Sports Report is a sports talk show that started up last fall during football season and really took off. Our listeners *love* them, and now their show has been extended from 30 minutes to an hour. I went by for a bit to shoot some pictures and hang out, and there were a bunch of people there watching the show.

The guys gave out shirts and held an autograph session at the end.

I just wish there had been a way to pipe the audio into Chilis’ sound system so everyone could hear what they were saying. It was a lot of fun, though, and I think they’re going to do more remotes.

Opening for the Masses

Joe’s museum is officially open. Several groups of people arrived about 30 minutes before the museum officially opened on Monday morning, which was really exciting to see. In its first day, approximately 200 people went though and close to 30 memberships were sold. Both are fairly good numbers considering it opened on a Monday and school is in session. I’m going to be really interested to see how the first weekend goes.

I was really excited to be there for the ribbon cutting and official opening, and I know Joe was glad I was there as well. Everyone from my station was there, which was neat, and the astronomy program manager’s wife surprised him by getting the morning off work and showing up. Like she said, it’s not every day your husband opens a museum.

We talked to some of the guests on opening day, and they all loved it. Next week, the school groups start, and there are more than 16,000 kids signed up for school tours. I just can’t wait to see what the first week totals are.
