We finally have a location for Lucy’s birthday party. Hooray! That is one BIG stress off my back now.

I’m always looking for cheap car insurance. The rate we have right now is pretty good, but I’ve found that car insurance can be a good way to save a few bucks every month, so every so often I find myself browsing around to see if I can find a better deal. So far, I haven’t been able to, but who knows what I’ll find in the future.

I really need to start looking for some weight loss supplements. I really don’t think I’m eating a lot. But, I wonder if I’m eating enough. I know that if you eat too little, your body goes into starvation mode and you actually gain weight. I need to get back to eating breakfast again. I think that will go a long way.

First Birthday Plans

I am SO FREAKING EXCITED about planning Lucy’s first birthday party. I can’t believe we only have a little more than a month to go!

I’ve been thinking of ideas for the party for a few months, but now it’s time to get in gear with the planning. This past weekend, Joe designed her invite. I LOVE it. Seriously, it is the coolest one I’ve seen (not that I’m at all biased!). The white blocks are where I removed the address and contact info. đŸ™‚

When I showed it to Lucy, she smiled REALLY big when she saw Tigger. The girl is going to PASS OUT when she sees all the other Tigger items I have planned!

I’m thinking about ordering this banner off Etsy. It doesn’t say “Happy Birthday”, but I love it. I can probably get an orange or black “Happy Birthday” banner from a party store to hang above this.

One of our coworkers is making Lucy an awesome Tigger-shaped cake. Joe saw a picture of it in one of her books, and he says I’ll love it. I can’t wait to see it! In addition to the cake, I’m going to make chocolate cupcakes, and I’m making Tigger cupcake toppers. At least, I’m PLANNING on making them. Hopefully, I’ll have enough time!

I have some other really cool things planned, but I’m probably not going to talk about those until after the party. As sad as I am about Lucy turning 1, I’m super excited about throwing her big party. It’s going to be a huge bash!

An Open Letter to Back-to-Back Long Weekend Runs

This is a guest post by Joe.

Dear Back-2-Back,

We’ve had a rough history, you and I. A little less than two years ago you and I met and hit it off for a couple of weeks before you were just too much and I had to back off. But I came back again a year later when I began training hard for my first ultra.

But I’m sure you’ve noticed in the last 10 months we’ve only had one or two dates. I don’t know how to say this B2B, but there’s someone else. Her name is Lucy and she’s 10 months old. And when she smiles you can see her four tiny teeth. I can give you Saturday mornings, bright and early, no matter the weather, no matter the distance. But Sundays, well, it’s just not going to happen.

Sundays I get up early too, but just not for you. I’m getting up for the 18 pounds of energy asleep in a room down the hall. We do all the things you won’t B2B: we share a bowl of oatmeal (she loves peaches n’ cream), shake maracas and practice our walking.

My first ultra is just more than a month away, B2B. I know you and I should be spending more time together if I plan on making a decent time at the race. But those miles will be there always. Those Sunday mornings spent tickling Lucy are finite.

So, buck up, B2B. I’m sure in a decade or so she’ll want nothing to do with her dad. At that time you and I can head out on the open road together again.

But not this week. It’s not you, B2B. It’s me. So long for now…I’ve got oatmeal to make and maracas to shake.

Parents Choice Formula Now Available Online!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PBM Products. All opinions are 100% mine.

I don’t buy Lucy name brand formula. She’s had it a few times — when we’ve gotten free samples or gotten really good deals on unopened cans off Craigslist — but I typically buy her store brand formula. I feel like there’s no reason to spend twice as much when the generic brands have the exact same ingredients as the name brand formulas and they have to meet the same FDA standards as name brands.

We go back and forth among generic brands based on what I have coupons for, and one of the brands we have used regularly is Parents Choice. Parents Choice is the Wal-Mart brand of formula, and it’s similar to Similac. And, now, you can buy it online! I think it’s the first generic formula I’ve seen that can be purchased online. I love the convenience of that! Sometimes, it’s just a pain to go out to the store. You can order both cans of powder formula or ready-to-serve liquid formula through the Baby Center on Wal-Mart’s website. These days, I buy whatever I can online. And what I love about Wal-Mart is that there’s no additional charge to ship to your home!

For those of you who feed your babies formula, what brand do you use? Did you make the switch to generic formula?
