Stocking Up

I had $27 in Staples rewards that expire tomorrow, so I hit the store after work today and bought several packs of Charmin toilet paper that was on sale. Six packs, to be exact. Each pack has 16 double rolls. That’s 96 rolls of toilet paper. And, I paid $2.13 OOP.

No, I’m not an extreme couponer. But, I totally just stocked us up on a product that is hard to score good deal.

Father’s Day Recap

We had a great Father’s Day weekend and, while we did a lot of driving, we got to spend time with both our families, which made it worth it.

We headed up to my parents’ house on Saturday morning and had a fun lunch with everyone. Lucy had a blast playing with her cousin, Harrison. Then, we left from there and drove through the Ocoee River area to get to Joe’s parents’ cabins in the mountains. I always love going up there. I can just feel the stress melt away as soon as we hit the mountains. We got up there in time for dinner. Joe’s parents made “Happy Meals” for the girls, which included mini sliders and toys.

Lucy wasn’t a huge fan of the burgers. She’s becoming such a picky eater! She won’t eat burgers or hot dogs. But, she had fun picking at it, and at least she ate some baked beans.

That night, Lucy did NOT want to go to sleep, which we think is probably a combination of a late nap in the car and being in a new place and a new crib. We brought her into our room around 11 p.m. to see if she would lay with us and calm down. Yeah, that didn’t happen. She was WIDE awake.

I was having a hard time keeping my eyes open, so Joe took Lucy out into the family room. I woke up around 2:45 a.m., and Joe wasn’t back. I went out to the family room, and this is what I saw:

The only way Lucy would sleep was on Joe. She would pass out, and the minute he tried to put her back in her pack n play, she would wake up and flip out. Joe wasn’t complaining, though. There are worse ways to ring in Father’s Day. 🙂

Around 6 a.m., Joe brought her into our room, and she slept in our bed until 8 a.m. This was the first time we’ve ever done that, and it will be the last. We figured it was OK for one night if it meant she would sleep. And, seriously, how cute is she with her arm around her Daddy’s neck??

The next morning, we got going slowly. The dads and daughters did some coloring.

And some bubble blowing.

On our way home, we stopped at Mercier to get Lucy a latch board and to pick up some apple cider and fried pies. Lucy was so tired that she slept the whole time — and we’d only been gone from the cabin for about 20 minutes!

And, we grabbed some lunch at Taco Bell where Lucy proved me wrong when I told Joe that she wouldn’t eat her tortilla. She tore into it like a wild animal!

Oh, and for Father’s Day, I made Joe a mug with a picture of Lucy as a Braves player from a Jib Jab dance that I had created. It was super cute, and Joe loved it! I always have such a hard time coming up with ideas for gifts for him, but this was great. Much better than getting him a cigar humidors or something.

What did you all do for Father’s Day?

Chex Mix Giveaway Winner

The winner of the Chex Mix giveaway is #6….Cheryl!

Congratulations! I’ll be sending you an email to get your contact info.

Teaching Twitter

Joe is teaching a group of his coworkers about Twitter tomorrow and how it is a useful tool in marketing the museum. I really can’t wait to hear how it goes because many of them don’t understand social media as much as people the same age as Joe and I are do. I kind of wish I could be a fly on the wall. Or, that I had some kind of MegaMeeting video conferencing software so I could watch!

Giveaway Reminder

Remember to enter my Chex Mix giveaway. It ends tonight at 11 p.m.!

Splash Ground

My daughter is a water bug. She LOVES water, whether it be in a pool or a bathtub. So, we were super excited when our nephew, Marshall’s, birthday party was held at a water park in Chattanooga.

We headed up last Sunday, and met everyone for a little picnic at Warner Park before heading in. We had never been there before, and we thought it was just a water park for toddlers. However, there was a pool, and parents were able to go around in the splash ground with their kids. Luckily, Joe was a good sport and went in with his jeans on. Next time, we’ll know to bring our bathing suits as well. 🙂

Lucy had a BLAST. It took other kids a little while to warm up, but she went for it immediately, and we couldn’t drag her out. Even when she was shivering from cold at the end, she still didn’t want to leave.

Thank goodness there was good cell service and I didn’t need a wireless cell booster to upload pictures from the day to Facebook! We’re planning on heading back up again soon for another day of fun. I wish we had something like this closer to us!
