One of the Best Parts of Working from Home…

…is that I don’t have to dress up as much anymore. Yes, I dress up when I have meetings to cover, which is several times a month. But, the rest of the time, I do what I need to wearing jeans. That’s my kind of dress code.

Of course, I it would be nice to be able to work completely in pajamas, or even nursing uniforms because scrubs are so comfy, but I’m not going to complain. I’ve got it pretty good right now, I think.

Why Do I Love Being a Writer?

Because I get to cover awesome things like, oh, you know, a movie being filmed in the area.

That’s right. I spent a good bit of Wednesday tracking down the set of the movie “Neighborhood Watch” with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn, which is being filmed in Powder Springs. I couldn’t get a hold of the unit publicist and no one locally had gotten back to me, so I used my journalistic skills and, after making a few phone calls and doing a few Internet searches, I was on scene of the set.

No one was allowed to go on-set, but I got pictures from as close as I could get. I wish I had had our DSLR with me, but I got word that they were shooting that day while I was in Paulding County working on another story. I still think it was pretty cool, though!

I’m definitely going to have to see this movie when it comes out! Also? My job is awesome.

Bouncing Babies

So, our niece (Joe’s sister’s daughter) turned 2 a couple of weeks ago, and we partied it up Barney-style. There were green and purple decorations. There was great food. There were green and purple cupcakes that Lucy *kind* of cared about.

What did she REALLY care about? The bouncy house. Of course. My girl is ADDICTED to bouncing and bouncy houses. She did not get out. Not to eat. Not to drink. Can we say obsessed?

When you bounce, you fall. That’s half the fun, you know.

And when you get tired of bouncing? You can just lay down!

We WERE able to lure Lucy out for cupcakes (if there’s one thing my child loves more than bouncy houses, it’s cake), but she was ready after a few minutes to go back in.

But, before she did, Aunt Rachel sprayed her hair with purple paint to go with the Barney theme!

Oh yeah, and there was silly string which, apparently, is HILARIOUS. But, I’m sure you guys already knew that.

And yes, my kid was the one sliding out of the bouncy house and hitting the ground face-first, brushing off her hands and going back in for more. A girly-girl she is not. Yet.

I love it when stores offer their own coupons to combine with manufacturer’s coupons. That just increases the amount of savings. I have one grocery store in town that does that, and I wish Wal-Mart would jump on board and offer walmart coupons, too, especially since they price match. That would really be nice.
