Wordless Wednesday: Pretty in Pink

A Case of the Mondays

I’ve felt so off today. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I haven’t slept well the last few nights or that our day was completely thrown off by a backward schedule. I’m not sure.

I was wide awake at 5:30 a.m. (ugh) and laid in bed trying to go back to sleep until 7:30 when Lucy decided it was time for me to get up (she had been up since 6:30). So, that was that. We had breakfast and headed out to the store, hitting up CVS and Kroger (two trips to Kroger because I left all my coupons at home and found some new mega sale items). We got some fabulous deals, though, so it was all good. Lucy was a trooper, especially during my second trip when the register locked up on the cashier. More on that later.

I tried to do a little bit of work when we got home, but then Lucy told me she was tired and wanted to nap with me. Since I was tired too, I was happy to oblige, and we were in bed by 11:30 a.m. Yay. That meant a late lunch around 1:30ish when we woke up, and then it was time for some more work until 4:30 p.m., when I got her ready and took her to meet Joe for Kiwanis.

And, that was our day. Completely backward, and I feel like I got nothing accomplished. I guess those kinds of day are OK, though, huh? Tomorrow, I hope to be back on schedule, and I’m hoping to take Lucy to the park to enjoy the outdoors before storms roll in on Wednesday morning.

Have a great week!

The Green-Eyed Monster

We have had a lot of friends lately who have either given birth or have announced their pregnancies. And, deep down, I really want to be happy for them. I really do. But, I find myself getting jealous, especially of those who are having their second or third children.

I don’t know if having another child is in the cards for us. Some days, I really want to go through the whole process again. Other days, Lucy drives me so crazy that I cannot imagine having another one. I feel like I bounce back and forth with wanting another child, and I feel like that makes me a bad person or mother. Sometimes I think that maybe our next child will be a Momma’s girl and will be easier on me than Lucy is. But then, I realize that not only could we end up with another Daddy’s girl who wants nothing to do with her Mom but also one that doesn’t sleep as well from the beginning like Lucy did.

And, while it would be nice to have another occasion for which to get my husband an alec bradley cigar, it also is nice to be able to provide for Lucy without feeling stretched. Do I sound like an awful person? Ugh. At least I know it’s not really in my hands. There is a plan for my life, and if it’s to have more than one child, I will. If it’s for Lucy to be an only child, then one day I’ll be at peace with it. I just have to keep telling myself that.

Weekly Totals ~ 01/25

Whew. I BARELY made it under my $40/week goal this week. I actually got my Hefty coupon wrong when I first typed this, making my total $41.23. But, after I realized my mistake, it lowered my total by $1.50. Yay!

I spent $16 today at Publix – definitely more than I thought I was going to spend – and I discovered after I left that I was charged full price for the Barilla Plus Farfalle that was stacked near a 2/$3 sign. However, I think it may have been put in the right spot since the other Barilla Plus pastas were marked at $2.39. In any case, I should have checked more carefully before putting it in my cart. Lesson learned.

This week, I made two trips to Kroger and one to Publix. I found some great $0.50/2 peelies on the Pillsbury Toaster Strudels that are BOGO this week at Publix, so I may try to make some more room in my freezer so I can get some more before the sale ends next week. I may also try to snag some more of the hair care products I found on clearance at Kroger.

Here is what  I got this week:

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Shampoo x 2 – $3.98
Suave Professionals Conditioner – $1.09
John Frieda Root Awakening – $2.09
Bananas – $0.88
Onion – $0.60
Mt. Olive Jalapenos – $2.29
Doritos – $2.50
Pop-Tarts x 3 – $0.21 (3 $1.50/1 Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts)
Hefty Slider Bags x 6 – $1.44 (3 $1.50/2 Hefty Slider Bags)
Kraft Mac n Cheese – $0.97
Kraft Easy Mac x 5 – $1.45 (1 $1/5 tearpad)
Kroger Mac n Cheese – $0.79
Kroger Fruit Snacks – $1
Kroger Pantiliners – $1.19
Measuring Spoon Set – $0.49
Welch’s Grape Juice x 2 – $1.69 (2 $0.75/1 IP)
Eggo Waffles x 2 – $4.12 (1 $1.50/1 IP)
Jif Hazelnut Spread x 2 – $1.38 (2 $1/1 IP, 2 $2/2 Jif Hazelnut Spread and Eggo Waffles PQ)
Pepperidge Farm Goldfish x 2 – $2.39
Hunt’s Chocolate Pudding x 3 – $2.50 (Free pudding WYB 2 PQ)
Barilla Farfalle x 2 – $4.78
Pillsbury Toaster Strudel x 4 – $1.90 (2 $0.50/2 peelies which doubled to $1)

This week, I spent $39.73 for $98.14 worth of items, a savings of 60%. It’s definitely not my best savings ever, but with the mistake I made with the Barilla pasta (and not realizing the Nutrigrain Eggos were more expensive than the regular ones), I’m OK with it. And, I’m still within my goal, which is all that really matters in the first place!

How did you do this week?

Friday Randoms

  • It has been a CHILLY day here in Georgia. We were supposed to get some freezing rain/sleet this afternoon, but so far we haven’t gotten anything. I wish we’d get some snow. We keep getting the “threat” of it but nothing to show for it.
  • Today was a FABULOUS mail day. I got two rings I bought from, a bracelet purchased with my credit, two Thirty-One orders (I cannot WAIT to use my new Inside-Out bag!) and a princess keyboard for Lucy. I got a great deal on it, so I snatched it up to put away for either her birthday or Christmas. She loves music. I have a feeling that in the future I’ll be looking for an affordable acoustic guitar.
  • Lucy had her first haircut today. She did great, and I – surprising – did not shed a tear. I have a post dedicated to that coming up soon.
  • My first Thirty-One home party is on Sunday! I’m both excited and nervous. I hope it goes well!
  • And now, I think I will go join my kiddo for a brief nap. Happy Friday!
