The One in Which I Complain about my Pharmacy, Part Two

Remember the problems I had a couple weeks ago getting my Enbrel shipped from Caremark? Today was like deja vu, only with a different pharmacy.

I ordered my fertility meds from Schrafts because they are slightly cheaper than Caremark and because I had a $100 off coupon for any order over $500 placed before Jan. 31. I thought that meant any order over $500 placed before Jan. 31, so I called on Monday, placed my order and scheduled it for delivery next Tuesday since that worked out better with my schedule. I assumed my credit card was being billed then since that’s normally what happens when you place an order for something and because I was never told otherwise.

This morning, the rep I spoke to on Monday called and told me she messed up and, since my order isn’t being delivered until Tuesday, I can’t get the discount. I could have it shipped today for tomorrow, but I’d have to pay for next day shipping.

Really? Because I don’t think so. I’m not going to be penalized for something that *she* screwed up on. I spoke to a supervisor and was told I could have it delivered tomorrow with free shipping, but I have to be available between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. That won’t work because I have church in the morning, and then we’re going to Rachel’s, and we’re planning to go to the hospital to see my grandpa, unless his bronchoscopy today is successful and he’s doing better by tonight and tomorrow morning. “We can have it delivered to the hospital or to the FedEx center nearby,” I was told. Right, because then my Follistim would be ruined since I won’t have access to a refrigerator *and* I’ll have a 1 1/2 hour drive home.

We finally decided that she would have my order billed today with the discount and delivered on Tuesday. I’m still not confident it will work out considering my recent mail order pharmacy experience. I foresee several phone calls today to make sure it was billed and to get an authorization number.

The best part about this story? When she confirmed the address the rep had entered when she placed my order on Monday, it was the address for our local FedEx center. I wouldn’t have received my order on Tuesday if this mess hadn’t happened today. I would have been waiting here, which is where I told her to send it, and it would have been sitting at the FedEx building. By the time I would have realized what had happened, it would have been too late to pick it up, and my Follistim would have been ruined.

With the stress of the IVF procedure and my grandpa being so sick, I really don’t need any extra stress in my life right now. I’m so over mail order pharmacies.

    jenn – yeah, it seem to have bad luck at times. maybe i complain too much. i use my blog as a place to vent, but i hate to come across as a complainer.
