For the last couple of days I’ve been smelling chlorine non-stop. Not only do I smell it, but I have the same feeling I get after I get done swimming. Today, I actually *tasting* chlorine too. It’s like I’m drinking pool water. I told two people — including my mom — and both immediately said that it’s a pregnancy symptom. So, what, the baby wants to go swimming??
Did any of you have any weird pregnancy symptoms like this? Do you think this could be from the pregnancy or is something else funky going on with me??

Hm, I didn’t really have weird pregnancy symptoms, but I’ve heard that things like that can happen if you’re missing something in your diet (like craving meat means you need the iron). I’m not really sure what that could mean you’re missing though. Maybe you need to drink more water? There is cholorine in public drinking water, so maybe that it’s it?
I’ve heard that for some women, they get a metallic taste in their mouths when they’re pregnant. So yes, it could be a pregnancy symptom. Maybe try sucking on some hard candy to get rid of the “chlorine taste”?
That’s really weird. It makes sense, though, that maybe it means you’re missing something in your diet. I’m not really sure what it might be, but Liz made sense with the drinking water thing.
I’m nine weeks pregnant. One day this week I came home from work, and my whole house smelled like Spaghetti-O’s. I have no idea where it came from!
My friends have reported all kinds of modification of taste and smell during pregnancy.
Heightened smell can be apparent during pregnancy, as can weird tastes. I love coffee, but when I was pregnant just couldn’t drink it. I loved the smell, would make a cup, take a mouthful and gag. It’s probably perfectly normal, but keep an eye on it since it could be sinus infection following on from you being sick. I hope that you are feeling better soon.
So funny! When I was pregnant with Silas I smelled cigarette smoke constantly. I was always looking for the “smoker” that had to be lurking nearby. haha
Oh my!! Mom said she always smelled onions when she was pregnant with her kids!!
