Dear Lucy,
I cannot believe you are half a year old. We celebrated your half birthday with half a cake!
You REALLY wanted some, but Mommy and Daddy wouldn’t let you have any!
You didn’t really like the fact that we ate a slice in front of you, so we let you have a little taste of frosting. You didn’t really know what to think about it!
At six months old, you are sitting by yourself pretty well. You topple over eventually, but you can sit on the floor or on my lap without anyone holding onto you for quite a while.
You roll like crazy. It’s your only mode of movement right now, and boy do you use it to move! You roll all over the living room and your crib. Speaking of rolling in your crib, Daddy and I always laugh at how you wake up on the opposite end from where we put you down. We joke that while you’re not yet crawling, you MUST be crawling at night!
You are a tummy sleeper. We lay you down on your back, and you instantly roll over onto your stomach. I don’t know how it can be comfortable, but you still sleep 10-12 hours a night.
Crawling is an area of frustration for you as you are DYING to be mobile. You try SO hard to crawl, but you just can’t do it yet. It makes you very angry, and you cry. But, you will get there soon, and I’m sure it will be sooner than we imagine.
You love to play. You still LOVE your exersaucer, dodo bird and elephant, but you also love your new musical toys we bought you. We always joke that those toys are going to accidentally get lost one day because the songs are so annoying! But, you love them, and that’s all that matters. You have a new favorite toy this month — a rocking chick that jingles that was your uncles’ toy when they were babies. You can’t get enough of it!
And the big news — you are now eating solids! You LOVE to eat (you must get that from your Momma), and you have loved everything we’ve given you. You didn’t seem to like rice cereal, but we wonder if it’s because it was your first taste of eating off a spoon. We’re going to try it again and see if your taste for it changes. You really love fruits, though. We’ve given you apples and bananas so far, and I can’t wait to try even more with you.
Some of your six-month stats:
I cannot believe my little girl is half a year old. As much as I’m looking forward to planning your first birthday party, I wish you would slow down just a little bit! I’m just glad you’re still so snuggly. I hope that continues for a long, long time. Your my best little girl friend, and I love you more than you will ever know.
Love,
Mommy
