we decided not to go to savannah again next month. with the rising gas prices, we just don’t feel like driving back down. plus, joe will only have been at his new job for a couple of weeks, so the most he would be able to take off would be half a day on friday. it would just be a very rushed trip.
instead, joe is doing a half marathon that weekend in chattanooga. it actually works out really well because my sister and her family will be in town (another reason i didn’t want to go to savannah) and, since my family lives just outside chattanooga, they can all come to the race. i think right now my parents are planning on making a picnic lunch for us all to enjoy afterward. i’m really excited. plus, it’ll be good practice for joe, who wants to run a full marathon at chickamauga battlefield (just north of us) in november. more power to him. i sure couldn’t do it.

I have a friend who runs half marathons frequently, and she did one full marathon recently as well. I cannot even imagine doing it…it would take me ages to prepare for something like that.
I love hearing all the names of the towns and cities in your area; everything sounds important and as though there is great history behind it. I ahve always wanted to go to Georgia. I was 23 when I had my first peach. Everyone thinks it is so weird I hadn’t had one, but they simply weren’t something my mother would buy. I had a celebrity client a few years back who lived and worked in Georgia. She sent me an entire crate of “Georgia Peaches” and I had no excuse for not trying them. They tasted equisite and were so beautiful! I totally fell in love with peaches. As you can guess, when I went to the grocery store here, the peaches were less than impressive in looks and tasted nothing like the delectable treat from Georgia. OK, sorry that was a totally lame and random comment.
Glad you’ll get to see your family. Good luck to Joe on the half marathon.
