boy, were our days different! we had a bunch of members of our kiwanis club out of town today and others who just won’t help at the concession stand (another post for another day), so my poor hubby is going to be spending 7-8 hours there today. another person is doing five hours, and the rest all took three-hour shifts. i would be there too, but i don’t feel comfortable doing that on the sabbath. on our way home for the wedding i joked, “well, it was nice seeing you for two hours today!”
speaking of the wedding, it was *beautiful*! the son of a woman (darlene) who used to work at my office and now works at joe’s office got married. it was outside by the creek where darlene and her in-laws live. there was a simple arch with some greenery, and just the scenery there made it absolutely beautiful. the bride’s dress was gorgeous, and her bridesmaids wore strapless green print dresses that hit right around the knee. they were perfect bridesmaid dresses because they are totally rewearable. the wedding was super short, like all the other weddings we’ve been to recently. it makes me feel bad about my hour-long ceremony, but i know a lot of that was because my grandfathers each gave a homily in addition to the speeches by the pastor and the cantor.
i told terri, one of my coworkers, that it was weird because joe and i didn’t know the bride or the groom. but, at least we knew the mother of the groom! and, darlene is awesome. the photographer told terri that before the wedding darlene killed a six-foot snake! we teased her about it after the wedding, and she said, “it wasn’t coming to the wedding too!” i would have paid to see her do that. haha.
we had to leave early because joe had to head back out to the park, but we got to spend a little bit of time talking with some of the people that we work with. two of my coworkers and one of his was there, so that was nice.
since the hubby’s not here tonight, i think i might order some chinese, watch melrose place and give myself a pedicure. oh, and finish an order of cards. that sounds like a nice, relaxing evening to me.

Oh, Chinese food sounds SOOOO good! Yum! Hope you got the relaxing evening that you planned for! Killing a snake before the wedding? Seriously, where was the wedding photographer for that one??? That would have been a hilarious photo op! So hysterical to look back on in the bride and groom’s wedding photo album! Sounds like a gorgeous ceremony. Our BM dresses totally weren’t rewearable. Oops!
