Dear Lucy,
Your second week of life was filled with all sorts of fun for your daddy and me (and, yes, that is laced with sarcasm!). You were much fussier this week, which we discovered was due to you being quite a gassy girl. We could tell you were in pain, which hurt us to see, but luckily the gas drops we got you seem to be helping. This was a common expression this week:

We also got to experience the fun that is exploding diapers. And you got to have extra baths, which was oh-so-much fun for you (again with the sarcasm!)! And, your umbilical cord stump fell off this week!
We continue to be entertained by your hilarious facial expressions, and we try our best to document them all in pictures (complete with funny captions), though sometimes you’re too fast for us and we miss our chance.

Daddy loves your pouty lip, which you sport quite often. I think it’s pretty cute, too.

But the best part of this week? Cuddling you. But then again, that’s the best part of every day of every week.

I can’t wait to see what week 3 has in store for us, though I do think the time is flying by *way* too fast!
Love,
Mommy
I love the pouty photo. She looks so skeptical of the world! Two weeks. What a great two weeks.
Hard to believe it has already been two weeks! She is beautiful. Love the expressions!
I love her little Christmas jammies :).
She’s a cutie.
Gotta love the age of digital photography!
Cady,
Lucy is beautiful. What is she eating? You mentioned formula is being supplemented in a previous post. Sometimes formula can be tricky to find one that agrees with babies.
My son ended up on a hypoallergenic formula due to a lactose intollerance. Keep in mind switching formulas should be suggested with her pediatrician. See if your medical insurance would cover the exoense of formula. Ours did (Blue Cross Blue Shield) each insurance company and plan differs but it is worth a try.
Similac Alimentum was the formula Nick used it was average $27 per can that lasted about 3 days. Our insurance carrier needed a persceiption from our pedi that our son needed this due to gas/lactose intollerance and every month we received 2 cases of formula at no charge. Well we pay a pretty bill each month for our awesome coverage so it was nice to use it…just pasing along a hint to check and see what your insurance provider does cover.
There is also a Gentleease formula, I did not use that one but all are so very different. Keep in mond it takes the babies belly a few days to switch over when changing formulas. Once you get the right combo, life is better…
Explosive diapers happen but they do get better, we had to cut a onesie off of Nicholas it was that bad…every parent has had this happen. Oneday you too will laugh at this stage PROMISE!!!
Oh also try napping/sleeping Lucy on her belly. This helped us… also some others swear by the miracle blanket sold on Amazon or at Babies R Us.
I hope your weeks ahaed are a lot less fussier and very happy ones. Enjoy your daughter, she is super cute!
Stacy
Two weeks already … wow. Yes, time does go by way too fast. ENJOY this time as much as possible. I cannot believe how big our kids are getting! I love her cute sleepers. 🙂 You sound totally and absolutely in love. I’m so happy for you! BTW, a friend is wondering how you pronounce your first name. I say that it’s “KAY-dee” but she thinks that it’s “CAHD-ee.”
Poor babe! Trevor had a rough second week in the gas department. We have been using Gripe water or Mylicon. Hes been MUCH better since. I hope Lucy has a better third week of life. And that Mama and Daddy do too!
She’s even cute when she’s gassy, but then again I don’t have to hear her scream. Poor baby. I’m sure you have it sorted it out by now.
