Wow, I didn’t think I would become one of “those” bloggers who rarely updates once they become a mommy, but that’s exactly what’s happened. When Lucy is sleeping, I’m either trying to catch a quick nap as well or get things done around the house. Hopefully I’ll be around more than once a week from now on.
Here’s what’s going on in our world:
That’s about all that’s up with us right now. My next topic? Recovering from labor and delivery: why doesn’t anyone warn you about that??

I can’t believe you had her!!!! Congrats honey!!! She is absolutely beautiful!!!

I’m glad you were able to make the right decision for you about breast-feeding. I feel like there is a lot of stigma for women who choose not to breastfeed or are unable to do so for whatever reason, and it’s really unnecessary. There was a great article about this in The Atlantic earlier this year: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200904/case-against-breastfeeding
Also, I bet it’s nice for Joe that now the feeding relationship isn’t exclusively between mom and baby.
Welcome to blogging in bullet form ~ I do that frequently! 🙂 Glad you feel much more at peace with nursing/formula. And about recovering after having a baby ~ yeah, I had *no* idea what that would be like! No one told me about it … the bleeding, the spritzing myself “down there” with a squirt bottle after an episiotomy … ugh!
Yeah, NOBODY mentions the squirt bottle. Or the mesh undies, the Tucks pads, the incessant bleeding, the night sweats. Seriously!! I had a particularly horrendous recovery. I am pretty sure it was a lot worse than most c-section mamas. Yuck. 🙁 You’ll feel better soon.
If Lucy has a bad diaper rash, you should try to get some damp soft cloths to use for wiping. Baby wipes, even the sensitive ones, burn when you have a rash (I know this from personal experience…don’t ask).
My mom suggested damp cloths as well. We’ll definitely try that with her. It breaks my heart to hear her crying so badly when we change her!
Try “butt butter” diaper rash cream Target has it!
Oh my gosh, don’t worry about the breastfeeding! You gave it a great shot and it is HARD at first. Now Joe can help you feed and honestly, she will probably sleep through the night a lot longer faster with formula!
I remember the recovery- it’s horrible. I posted about it some with Amelia, because it was so traumatizing for me. I am dreading it this time but just trying to remember how quickly it all goes by 🙂 I honestly had no idea how bad it would be- no one warned me!!
Ah, the wonderful world of new motherhood and trying to keep it all together 🙂 Seriously, you make the best choices that’s going to keep the whole family happiest… it’s the only way to go. Nap time would make a good blogging time if hubby isn’t freaking out about the house LOL!
Glad you’re enjoying your maternity leave! And what a great husband. 🙂 I hope the diaper rash gets better…the poor thing!
Have you ever heard of Arbonne? It is all natural skin care line and they have a baby line. I have had so many mommy’s say that is the best stuff ever for their babies. There is a diaper rash cream in it as well. I just started selling Arbonne 2 months ago but I have been using the line for almost 2 years myself.
