Lucy ran her first race last weekend.

On Saturday morning, we got up early and headed to Atlanta for the Cuties Luckie 5K and Kids Fun Run. The races were part of the Georgia Marathon event, and the 0.1-mile run (which really seemed to be more like 0.2 miles) was perfect for young kids.

Lucy ran with her cousin, Rivka, and the girls had so much fun. The girls were pretty happy, considering we left the house around 7 a.m.

Before the race started, we got their faces painted and got balloons. Lucy didn’t mind the face painting as it was happening, but once she saw it in a mirror, she freaked out and yelled, “Off! Off!”

The girls walked around holding hands, which was RIDICULOUSLY adorable. OH.MY.GOSH. The cuteness.

When it was time to line up, we pinned the girls’ bibs on. Lucy was not thrilled about it, but once we showed her that all the other kids were wearing them, she stopped trying to pull it off.

And, finally, they were off!

I opted to not join them and stay by the finish line to take pictures instead. A lot of kids crossed it while being held by their parents. Not our girls! Joe said they ran the whole way. I am so, so proud of them! And, they crossed the finish line holding hands. It’s too bad I was so far away that I couldn’t get a good shot of that.

After a big run, you have to refuel.

The kids got medals and beads, none of which Lucy would wear. Oh well. They will be fun for her to have when she gets older.

We definitely plan on doing the run again next year. It’ll be fun to see if Lucy gets into running like her Daddy.
