Scrapping Machine

I have found a hobby that really distracts me from the IVF procedure: digital scrapbooking. I never really thought I would like digi scrapping because I love putting the pages together by hand, but it’s really a lot of fun, and I can really whip out the pages a lot faster.

Joe got me a digi scrapbooking kit last weekend when we went to get my early birthday present — a laptop. I’ve been wanting a laptop for a while since, you know, I’m addicted to blogging and the Internet, and I could really justify it now that we’re about to have our retrieval and transfer. I’ll be on bed rest but definitely want to update everyone, and when we have the baby, Joe will be able to give updates from the hospital.

So, for the last few days, I’ve been playing around with my new program, and I’ve completed several pages. I’m betting that in the three weeks between now and my pregnancy test I’ll probably catch up on my scrapbook — and I’m two years behind!

Getting my Craft On

Disclaimer: Husband is *not* eligible to participate!

I’ve been in a bit of a crafting funk lately. I don’t know what it is, but I just haven’t really had any motivation. Then, I saw this posted on Lisanne and Carol’s blogs, and I knew this would be something to help me get back into crafting. I knew instantly that I wanted to join in. If you’d like to participate, please leave a comment on this blog entry! The details:

The first seven people to respond to this post will get something made by me. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

  • What I create will be personalized and intended for you.
  • It’ll be done this year (2009).
  • You will have no idea what it’s going to be. It may be knitted, sewn, papercrafted, used in a bubble bath, related to photography, graphic design-y, or perhaps a mix CD. I might even bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that’s for sure!
  • The catch? You have to put this offer in your journal as well and make seven things for your friends! (If you have already done this, then I will happily add you to the list.)

    A Cropping we will Go

I am going to my first crop in a *long* time tomorrow. I just really haven’t been motivated to scrapbook for a while. Last year found me bummed a lot of the time, and I’m always so tired that I’m embarrassed to be the first to leave because I have to go to bed.

Tomorrow is an afternoon crop, though, so it’ll be a good one to start back with. I spent today looking through layouts and sketching pages so all I will have to do when I get there is crop my pictures and stick them on. I think a lot of what frustrated me was staring at a page and having no idea what to do with it. Hopefully preparing like this will help me.

I really do need to get back into scrapbooking. I am literally almost two years behind. On Sunday, I’m planning to reorganize my cluttered scrapping area. Maybe that will help as well. I’ll post pictures of whatever pages I finish. I love your feedback!

    Christmas Photo Cards

It’s the time of year when I start working on my Christmas and Hanukkah cards. I really wanted to get started much earlier than now, especially since I have other orders to work on as well, but I couldn’t decide exactly what I wanted to do for the design, and that put me quite a bit behind. But, last night I finalized what I’m going to do, and I got a template done today. I think they’re going to look cute. I was hoping for something that would be a little less time consuming than last year’s, and I think this might be. There are fewer pieces to put together, but they’re going to be super cute!

I love making my own cards, but I kind of miss the Christmas photo cards that Joe and I did during our first year of marriage. It was a lot of fun, and the cards were super easy to do (well, except for the whole posing with three cats thing). For some reason, I didn’t order those that year from VistaPrint. I order pretty much everything from there, including the photo calendars I’m making this year for our grandparents, because their prices are really good. And, the quality is top notch. I made a photo calendar for us last year, and I’m planning on doing one for 2009 as well.

If you want to get in on my card exchange, it’s not too late! Just send me an email or leave a comment here, and I’ll add you to my list!
