the fun continues

i’m sure you all are probably getting sick of aj pictures by now, but these were too cute not to post.

we think aj may have started picking at his stitches (we haven’t seen him, but the ends look longer), so joe stopped by the vet and picked up a cone just in case. we tried it on him the other night, and he kept backing up until he ran into the couch as if he was thinking that he could back away from it. he was probably thinking, why won’t it go away?? this picture is classic.

this morning, aj decided to lay in a pier one bag. it was pretty cute.

so here’s a [semi] humorous story. aj has thrown up about seven times in the last two days (counting the two this morning). we called the vet last night after no. 5. he asked if aj was on an antibiotic, and joe told him he wasn’t but that he was on medicam for the pain.

the vet said, “oh yeah, that’ll make him throw up. don’t give him anymore.”

joe sighed. “we just gave it to him about eight minutes ago.”

now, we wait for it to go through his system.

busy week, busy weekend

this week has just flown by, probably because i’ve been so busy.

does that mean the busy weekend we have planned will go by just as quickly?

tomorrow, we’re heading up to my parents’ house in tennessee for their anniversary and my grandmother’s birthday celebrations. we will also be dropping off our box of invitations for my mom to address and mail. yay! 🙂

on sunday, we head *back* up to tennessee to meet with the pastor who will be co-officiating the wedding. we want to spend time with both officiants before deciding who we want to do our premarital counseling with. afterward, we’re having lunch at this great mexican restaurant near my parents’ house where we’re thinking about having the rehearsal dinner. it’s a hole-in-the-wall place, but the food is fantastic and they have rooms we can reserve for the dinner. besides, since it’s near the “adventist ghetto” of collegedale, they have a whole vegetarian menu, which will be great for my family.

the rest of sunday (or whatever is left by the time we get home) will be spent by the pool. yay. tanning and swimming is *definitely* my idea of a way to spend an afternoon. i have to work monday, but it’s only for a few hours, and then it’s back to the pool for us! i actually like working holidays because you don’t work a full day and you get another day off in return. 🙂

happy friday!

blowing the ending

i missed the apprentice monday night, so i decided to watch the rerun wednesday night on cnbc. it was down the final four, and i was doing some cleaning as i was watching. it went to a commercial break, and the first commercial was teasing monday’s episode with the final two! doesn’t that defeat the purpose of watching the rerun? it just isn’t the same watching the show when you know who’s going to be fired!

early morning interview

i had one of my biggest interviews to date this morning. i got to talk to patricia cornwell, one of my favorite authors, for about 10 minutes during our morning show. i’ve never done a live interview like this before, but it was a lot of fun, even though i was nervous. we talked about her new book and forensic television shows, among other things. it was a great experience and definitely will be good for my resume.

recovering

aj is not the happiest cat. he’s trying to find ways to be comfortable after his surgery. he had quite a big incision and about 10 stitches, so he’s been through a lot. he slept a while after i brought him home yesterday afternoon, and then tried to get out of his carrier and walk around. he was still quite groggy from the anesthesia, so he would take a step, then stumble and fall, take a step, then stumble and fall. i went with him to make sure he didn’t hurt himself when he’d fall. he seriously looked like he was drunk and trying to walk. it was so funny. i felt bad laughing, but it was so cute and hilarious. i held him for a while, which seemed to be semi-comfortable for him.

isn’t this the cutest face ever?? he was still so sleepy from being knocked out.

since he had his belly cut open, he had a hard time finding a comfortable way to sleep. finally he decided to just sleep sitting on all four feet. his nose would touch the ground. it was really cute.

i’ve noticed he likes to be behind or under things to feel more secure. last night he spent time under the futon, and when we woke up this morning he was sleeping under our bed way in the back by the wall. it was quite an adventure trying to get him out to give him his medicine without hurting him. right now he’s sleeping behind the loveseat in the living room. here’s a picture of him post-medicine.

i was kind of worried about how dizzy and julius would be around him, but they’ve been great. they nosed around him when i first brought him home, but they could tell he wasn’t feeling well and left him alone. this morning, julius kept going over to where aj slept in the living room to check on him. he’d look at him, lick the top of his head a couple times, and go back to the other side of the room. he’d repeat that every so often. it was so cute, and it showed me how much he cares about aj.

hopefully aj will be back to his old self again soon, and then in two weeks we go back to get the stitches taken out. more fun times are in store, i can feel it.

going under the knife

well, aj is more than likely having surgery tomorrow. i asked the receptionist how much it will cost, and she said it depends on how much of his intestines they have to cut open to get out the 30 inches of ribbon. i love hearing the reactions of people to this. the other receptionists said, “30 inches of ribbon???” and a lady waiting in the lobby with her dog laughed.

i know how completely absurd it sounds. and yes, my cat is an idiot. heh. but he just needed some fiber. 🙂

here are some pictures i took of aj today while we waited at the vet.

he didn’t want to get out of the cage at first.

we finally were able to coax him out.

and he wasn’t too happy after his x-ray (we could hear him crying all the way down the hall).

hopefully all will go well tomorrow!
