Computer Woes

I arrived home tonight ready to share some pictures from our Thanksgiving weekend with you, but I can’t.

My remaining card reader stopped working.

Sigh. We bought our computer in April 2007, and soon after the built-in card reader slots stopped working. We were annoyed, but a cheap card reader that was included with the digital camera we bought my parents worked in our usb slot, so we gave up on getting help from Gateway and Windows.

Tonight, that stopped working as well. Gateway offered to help me troubleshoot — at a cost of $100 an hour. The drivers they sent me didn’t work, and the software with our camera doesn’t work. Tomorrow, it looks like I’ll be making a trip to Best Buy to purchase a pci card. My brother, who dealt with this same problem with his computer, says that’s my best bet. Otherwise, I’ll have to buy a new computer.

Please, cross your fingers and send good vibes my way so this will work. I’m really not wanting to buy a new computer right now.

    Awwww….I hate it when stuff like that happens. $100.00/hour? WOW. My computer is old too and the hubby keeps saying I need a new one, but as long as I can scan pictures in, and peck on the keyboard, I guess I’ll just keep it.
