I am done at Emory. I officially “graduated” to my OB today. It’s kind of bittersweet. I’m ecstatic to have reached this milestone, but it will be weird not going to the clinic, where I’ve really gotten to know all the doctors and nurses.
Lil’ Geek looked great today. He/she had a heartrate of 150 bpm. It’s still a smudge, but a much bigger smudge. Joe swears he can see the distinction of legs. I’m not so sure.

One of the big things I’ll miss now that I’m going to an OB like a real pregnant woman is the weekly ultrasound. I’ve heard you only get a couple throughout the pregnancy at the OB’s office, and I’ve really looked forward to seeing the smudge every week. At least I should get one next Monday since it will be my first OB appointment, and he hasn’t done an u/s yet.
In other pregnancy news, it’s interesting seeing how my body is changing. Sure, it’s a little depressing at times, but it’s still very neat. My waist is really growing, which I’m guessing is from my uterus expanding. I only have a few pairs of pants now that fit me comfortably.
My belly is also getting quite big. I look fat now rather than pregnant, and it makes me feel self conscious is pretty much anything I wear. This leads to long, agonizing periods in front of my mirror every day as I try to find something to wear to work.
And my boobs…holy cow, they’re so big now! In fact, they are now almost popping out of my camisole! I think a shopping trip for larger bras is in the near future for me. They’re the one thing I don’t *mind* buying larger sizes in!

I hear you about the u/s. I ended up having about 6 (they thought there was an issue, there wasn’t, but they kept wanting to confirm there wasn’t, etc. etc.) but I still wished I could’ve seen my baby at every visit.
Awesome news! The baby looks great!
Great ultrasound photo! So … I’m going to guess that you’re having a boy. Just a feeling. Although … who knows, of course? Glad to see that everything is going fine. Oh, how I miss my preggo boobs! LOL! 🙂
Target is an excellent place to find decent maternity clothes. They aren’t nearly as expenseive as some other places and work great for the duration. Also next time you go to Provino’s here in Chattanooga stop by Kidz Planet that’s just a few stores up. She sells maternity clothes, I’ve come across some nice things there from time to time. I have issues with spending lots of money on clothes that are only going to be worn for a few months. Make sure you have comfy flat shoes, heels are so not comfortable during pregnancy.
Very cool ultrasound pic, just be careful how much you eat (get tons of folic acid for brain development, more than they tell you). I learned the hard way weight wise. Turns out eating just one extra peanut butter sandwich a day was enough “eating for two.” I took eating for two way too seriously when I was pregnant LOL!
Yay! So glad everything is going well. I am appalled at how big my boobs are at this point, LOL (I had to go bra shopping over the weekend). The body changes are crazy, aren’t they?
A cute baby for sure. One more thing he gets from his darling mother.
You’ll have all the time in the world to lose the pounds you gain! The most important reward is the baby you’ll hold in your arms! Glad everything is going well & that’s a cute u/s photo 🙂
Cute U/S picture, I don’t see a leg either 😉 Just watch your weight gain closely, and I’m sure you will get chewed out by your OB if you go over where he thinks you should be 😉 Mine kept me in check for both my pregnancies and I am very grateful for that!
Congrats on graduating!!
I really enjoyed my first OB ultrasound, it was much longer than the fertility clinic ones!
CONGRATULATIONS on your graduation– but I totally get moving from a familiar zone into an unfamiliar one. I had only one ultrasound at my RE’s, then it will be a full 3 and a half weeks from that first scan to my next. Seems like forever. Congratulations on your wonderful 8 weeks– I hope you find some comfortable clothes– I am all about the belly band thingy at target. I am pretty sure it will be my new best friend.
wow you get an US every week… that will be soo cool for the scrapbook if you can get them to give you an photo each time… hehehe… cheer for this kind of graduation…
