First of all, I want thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers on Wednesday. We were scared to death since I had a placenta previa and was told that any bleeding likely would be from the placenta tearing or rupturing. I seriously think that’s the most scared I’ve been throughout this pregnancy. Luckily, it doesn’t seem to be from anything serious.
Lucy is really moving around a lot now. At night when we listen to her heartbeat with the doppler, we usually lose her 3-4 times. She’s just bebopping around and living it up in there. I wonder how rough she’ll be when I actually start feeling her.
We have decided to start clearing out the nursery next month. I have no plans to start decorating or really working in there until after the point of viability (24 weeks), but starting to move things out will in the next few weeks will give us more time and we won’t feel rushed.
I have, however, picked out the furniture and bedding I’m going to buy. The furniture is in cherry wood, which I love, and the crib is a 4-in-1 convertible, so it will be useful for several years.
The bedding I think we’re going to go with is super girly, and I am totally in love with it. I found a couple that I liked, but this one I really loved. I think it looks really classy, and it’s a 13-piece set, which is awesome. I’m still trying to find the border. I’m not a big fan of borders usually, but I think it will look really nice and really break up the pink walls.

I have to find a bathing suit for our upcoming beach trip. I hate buying a maternity bathing suit that I likely will only wear this one time, but I do want to go swimming. I’m so self conscious, though, since my knees are all swollen (thank you, arthritis!), and I feel like my thighs are larger than they were. I was thinking about finding a sarong to wear over my bathing suit, but I think I will go with a pair of bermuda shorts. I just hope we’re able to go on the trip. I’m so nervous that the clot will still be there on the 24th and that I will be on more bed rest. I don’t think I could handle that.
I think I’ve decided how we’re going to feed the baby. I’ve never had the desire to nurse, and I still don’t, and I had planned from the beginning to use formula. However, I have read up on breast milk, and I really like all the anitbodies and other nutrients it gives the baby. So, since I don’t want to nurse, I think I’m just going to pump and exclusively bottle feed. It’s not fair for the baby for me to nurse when I really don’t want to, and I think I’ll be more comfortable this way. Plus, the baby is used to bottles from the start, which will be useful for when we leave her with a babysitter, and Joe can help feed, which I know he wants to do.
That’s about all I’ve been thinking about for now, but I’m sure I will be thinking about more baby-related things in the next week and a half. It’s not like I have anything else to do!

This is all so exciting! It’s great to hear that she’s so active and the nursery looks like it will be gorgeous!
I think that the crib furniture and bedding that you picked out is gorgeous! That’s the same dresser that we have in Lucas’s room, and we have been very pleased with it. And yes, those cribs are nice because they convert to toddler beds later (and then “daybeds,” which Meri is using now). Neither of our kids used a toddler bed, LOL! 🙂 I think it’s a wonderful decision to pump. Will you rent a pump from the hospital or buy one?
Oh Cady,
Learn from my mistake please. The bedding sets are a waste of money since the blanket is way to heavy and the baby can not use it! Also please decide if you want you baby girl to have bumpers or not. I opted for breathable bumpers, as Nick would get a limb caught in his crib but I was afraid that he would have his face in the bumper and suffocate. Every parent has different opinions. I purchased the expensive bedding package only to end up using the crib skirt, sheet and we hung the baby blanket/cover on the wall as a decoration (expensive decoration). Please consider this when picking out Lucy’s bedding stuff.
Stacy
Let me know if you ever have questions or need support for pumping. I pumped exclusively for 5 months (between 6 months and 11 months). I LOVE the nursery bedding. 🙂
love the bedding and furniture!! My SIL only pumped and it really worked well for them. The baby got all the benefits of breast milk which is really important. I hope you get to go on your trip!! Have a wonderful week!!
The furniture you have chosen is wonderful. My grand daughter is
eight now and her, 4 in 1 is now full size, and still very sturdy. It’s a great investment.
I have to admit that I agree with Stacy C…our baby bedding for LG was a huge waste of money. I didn’t like the look of hanging the quilt on the wall, we couldn’t use it in the crib for obvious reasons, we didn’t use the bumper for the same reasons Stacy mentioned…so basically I paid a bunch of money for a crib skirt. I didn’t make that mistake again with the twins.
I love the bedding set! Just double check what it comes with cause ours said a 14 piece set & it wasn’t till it arrived with only a few of the items in the picture that I realized how little it actually included.
I have to put in my two cents on nursing. Obviously, it is a very personal decision & you have to do what you’re most comfortable with, but I do want to put in my plug to just give it a chance. I personally HATE pumping more than anything in the world. I think it takes twice as long as a nursing session for me to get the milk she needs that way. But again, everyone is different so it may not be that way for you. I sure hope it’s great for you. I think pumping is great, but I do hope that you’ll give nursing a try at least.
I also have nothing against formula. Both of my girls have had formula as well as breastmilk. But my problem with formula is the same as with pumped milk… it’s such a pain! In my opinion only of course! I just hate taking the time to put together a bottle when I can just nurse her in seconds, wherever we are.
I’m not telling you all of this to sway your decision, because it is your decision & any decision you make is what is best for you & your baby & it will be the right decision. I just love nursing so much that I always feel I need to put a plug in for it. I hope I’m not offending you by writing all of this because I really do think that you have to do what is best for you. If pumping is best for you, then I’m so glad that you made a good decision for you!
I love the furniture. So very nice. I did a lot of pumping and was glad I did. I wished I could have done more because I hated messing with the formula. It stinks so bad and was just always a mess to clean up. Breast milk is just so much more easy to deal with.
OMG… i just got caught up on your blog… you poor thing… you have been through soooooo much… and I am hoping and praying that everything will be fine and you can go on your trip… but I love the furniture… the bedding is super cute too… but I never bought a bedding set but it is really cute!
The furniture is gorgeous, great choices!
I too agree with the bedding. It’s nice to have a “set” but, you will find that you will not really use most of it. I think that we had bumpers and sheets for the girls and Jac didn’t even use the bumpers for Violet at all. It’s risky putting blankets and pillows in with a baby. Save those for when your girlie is older and in a toddler bed. 😉
One of the best things we did buy Violet was one of those sleeper things that tilt the baby up in the crib. She used it for a few months and it helped her sleep a lot easier, Jac too as she wasn’t worried as much.
Breast milk is best, no matter how the baby gets it. Although you will be able to pump for however long you decide too, just know that your little Lucy will be healthy and happy no matter what you decide to do in the future.
I commend you for pumping but would like to give you a tibit that helped me tremendously the second time. With my first he primarily was on formula because I didnt produce much for the pump and it way stressed me out that I wasnt providing for him. It broke my heart. I learned with my second that there is actually a chemical reaction that happens during breast feeding with the mouth to the breast that actually makes you produce more then the pump. Just a tidbit to think about in your decision. Congrats on Lucy!
