As many of you know, I quit my full-time job last year to work part time as a freelance writer and spend more time at home. It went very well for a few months. Then, the budget cuts happened, and that meant my assignments were cut. A lot. To the point where I was super stressed and didn’t know if we’d make it.
But, things are OK. We continue to bring in what we need every month, and we even paid off Joe’s car last week and will pay off one credit card this week. And, having less work means more time with Lucy. But, I still want to bring in more, to both feel more stable and to meet my aggressive plan to have the rest of our credit cards paid off in the next two years.
So, I’ve started my own business. It all began when I was approached by a local travel association to manage their social media accounts, and create and send out their monthly e-blast. Then, I got to thinking about how much I love Facebook and why not try to make some money while doing what I love. And, that’s how Cady Schulman Creative was born. I know, not exactly the most creative name, but I kind of suck at names. If you have any suggestions, I’m all ears.
Right now, I just have the one client, but I have meetings this week with two more potential clients. Fingers crossed they’ll sign on. And, a friend who referred one of the people I’m meeting with said she has other business owners to refer, and she likely will sign on herself. I feel like this is something that can really take off because, well, advertising and marketing your business on Facebook is MUCH cheaper than buying ad space in magazines or newspapers, on websites or billboards and, since there are 500 million people on Facebook, you’ll reach more people. There are just so many possibilities, and I’m super excited.
So, wish me luck! And, go over and “like” my Facebook page. 🙂

Congratulations! This is really exciting.
I’m sure you have seen that I’m now helping post on Mommy Wants Freebies which is just the first step in me being able to stay home once baby #2 arrives….yep…haven’t made any official announcement yet, but that is the plan provided everything goes well. I don’t make a ton, but it’s been unexpected income which is always nice.
