cartersville’s elite were out in droves last night.
local officials, such as members of the city council, police officers and sheriff’s deputies and members of local civic organizations were just a few of those invited to a grand opening reception and screening at the new 12-screen carmike cinemas theater here. i received an invitation, so joe and i decided to check out the theater and take in a free showing of mission: impossible 3.
or so we thought. as we mingled with members of our kiwanis club, we noticed the list of movies on the marquee. stick it, the wild, scary movie 4 and hoot were among the selections. mission: impossible 3 was not. we weren’t interested in any of the movies being shown, so we headed home slightly disappointed and settled in for a night of baseball, survivor and the office: my kind of night. free movies are nice, but i was happy to be able to catch my usual shows.
it turned out to be a typical thursday night. 🙂
