i am so behind in posting, so i’m trying to catch up this week. mother’s day weekend was busy but fun. it was the second weekend in a row that we had only a couple of hours each day at home. i am really looking forward to this weekend. all we have planned is church and a wedding to attend on saturday.

last saturday, we went to my parents’ house for mother’s day. my mom and i are trying to take the load from my grandma when we have family lunches because she’s so tired now from caring for my grandpa every day. so, my mom made lunch, and i made dessert. since i only had a couple of days notice, i decided to make a strawberry cake since i already had everything on hand. coincidentally, everything at lunch was pink — pink flowers, pink plates, strawberry sorbet.

even though mother’s day was hard for me, it was still a nice day with my family. for their gifts, we’re taking our moms and my grandma to brunch next month at the church street tea garden here in cartersville. i know it sounds like a long way off, but it was really the first time we’re all available!

i also got to spend some time with my nephew, who is quite a cutie. he had fun watching the birds at my grandparents’ bird feeders.

on sunday, we headed to douglasville where we spend the whole day at joe’s parents’. i went shopping while joe and his dad moved furniture, and when his mom got back from her trip to south carolina, i hung out at the house while joe and his dad made several runs to the storage unit and joe’s mom worked on packing up things. i couldn’t really help because i’d have to ask what she wanted to do with everything, which would be more of a hindrance than a help.

after all the work, we had a cookout and ate outside, which was nice until the wind started blowing our food away. finally, we headed home and crashed on the couch to eat see’s truffles (mmmm!) and watch the survivor finale — the only real downtime we had all weekend.
