Ori and Harry left today to head back to Taiwan. They stopped here for breakfast this morning, which was really nice. We really didn’t get to spend much time with Ori last Saturday at my parents’ because she had to run off to a bridesmaid event for the wedding she was in. It was nice to spend a *little* more time with her. We had a lot of fun with Harry, and took his 1-year pictures. He’s such a cutie, but he’s so active now! It was hard to keep him still! Hopefully I’ll have time to download them off our camera tonight.
Harry was pretty cranky this morning, a side of him I’ve never seen. Ori’s mom and I were talking about how Harry is always *so* good. I’ve never really seen him fuss, he’s fine when Ori leaves him with other relatives, and he was perfectly well-behaved at the wedding last Sunday. However, this morning he was pretty tired from being at my parents’ until 10 p.m. last night and then getting up early this morning to head out. Hopefully he’ll sleep most of the flight. I know they’re really excited to get home, and Ryan is *super* anxious to see them after two weeks apart. I don’t blame him.
I’ve been tracking their flight again. It’s so addictive. It’s fun to see where their flight takes them, but it also makes me sad seeing how far they’re getting from us. It was hard when they left in August, but at least then we knew Ori would be back in just a month. Now, we know we won’t see them until June. It really sucks.
I wish my brother had been able to come with them, but he’s busy, busy, busy teaching over there. An interesting side note: Ori told us today that the students in Taiwan go to school at Taiwan Adventist Preparatory Academy until 4:30 p.m. and then head to cram school, where they will take lessons to learn English until 10 p.m. or sometimes even as late as midnight! Then, they’ll tell their regular teachers that they have too much homework and are *incredibly* tired at TAPA. Apparently, that’s how education works in Chinese countries, but I just feel so bad for the students. They have no free time and are in school for up to 16 hours a day! Then again, maybe that’s why they’re all so smart.
