With 31 weeks has come heartburn. I had a few days of mild heartburn, but last night was insane. I was up most of the night and couldn’t get rid of it, despite elevating my head and laying on my left side. Finally, around 3 a.m., Joe had the brilliant idea to give me a few Smarties. Let me tell you, they worked! They have a chalky texture like Tums, and after eating a few of those, I slept until around 9 a.m. or so. That’s definitely a remedy to keep in mind. Plus, they taste better than Tums. 🙂
I finally got a prescription for pain medicine at my OB appointment last Friday. My doctor gave me a med in the Benedryl family (I wonder why she didn’t prescribe that three weeks ago when she wasn’t able to give me anything in the penicillin family), and boy, has it worked. I have only been taking one a night, and I have *much* less pain when I lay in bed or get up. It’s amazing, and life is so much easier now.
My feet have been swelling like crazy in the last few days. I’m sure it will just get worse as the pregnancy progresses. They’re tight, but not painful. However, since I can’t fit in any of my shoes now, I’m trying to figure out what to do in November and December. Joe thinks I should get some cheap pairs of wide-width shoes to get through the next two months, which really isn’t a bad idea.
We had our hospital tour today. I actually thought it was a waste of time. We had seen pretty much everything when we went in a few months ago to have Lucy checked. I did get some information on where to tell our families to go on the big day, but that was about all we got out of it.
My next baby shower is Tuesday with all our coworkers. I’m looking forward to it. Of couse, I look forward to any chance to celebrate Miss Lucy. 🙂

You look great. I’ll have to remember that *good* Smarties solution if we ever have a third (or if I have heartburn!). Sorry the hospital tour was a waste of time. But I’m glad that you weren’t freaked out by yours like I was with ours! 🙁
What a hot (soon-to-be) momma!
Lookin’ good, Cady! Youre getting so close to the big day!
Have fun on Tuesday. Im sure Lucy will be very spoiled.
Have a great baby shower!
You’re looking great! Have fun with your shower!
You look beautiful! I meant to tell you how much I love Lucy’s room too. It came out so nice.
Sorry about the heartburn, but at least you know she’ll have lots of hair! I never had any heartburn with either girl & Alexa is still pretty bald almost 8 months later. I think I would have taken a little heartburn so my poor baby would stop getting mistaken for a boy!
I’ve never heard of that smarties trick, but so clever! And any excuse for candy in the middle of the night sounds great to me!
Congrates on your pregnancy you look wonderful, I am sure that getting thing ready for your new pride and joy can be so much fun.
Heart burn can be a pain and just a little tip on what shoes to buy for your feet swelling problem.
You know those shoes you get in the summer that are like clogs and are like under five dollars I can’t remember what they are called but those are the ones you should get (oh yeah they are called crocs) unless you live in a place were you get snow and ice, then its not a good idea.
Plus you may not be able to find them now.
You can always go to zappos.com
My mom has a bad feet swelling problem so thats what i got her.
Look how cute the room is! And I had no idea that Smarties worked just as well as Tums.
Hi Cady,
I know I’ve asked before, but I had my password to your private posts saved to my work computer. Now that I’m no longer at that job I can’t remember what the password was! Could you email it to me?
Thanks!
The room is looking beautiful! You too. Can you wear Crocs? I too had heartburn while pregnant. I looked like an alcoholic the way a chugged down Mylanta straight out of the bottle. LOL
