I was surprised with a birthday party this weekend.

We had plans to go visit my family on Saturday afternoon, but when I woke up that morning I really didn’t feel like going. I was super tired, and I just wanted to try to get a little more sleep and relax. But, Joe was adamant that we go since my mom had some medicine to give him for his migraines.

So, we headed up to Chattanooga. When we pulled into my parents’ driveway, this is what we saw:

I was pretty surprised since my birthday isn’t until Friday. It turned out being a family party since none of my friends were able to come, but that’s ok. It was still a lot of fun. Everything was PINK, and there was a gorgeous bouquet of tulips (that I, unfortunately, forgot to take home with me).

Joe told everyone to get me things that I could pamper myself with, so I got some great gifts, including money, and bath and body products. That was nice since everything I’ve done or bought has revolved around Lucy (because why try on clothes when I’m still so much bigger than I used to be when I can buy cute baby clothes??).

My cake was awesome. It was supposed to say “Cady, it is your birthday,” which is from The Office, but the baker must not be a fan of the show, because it said, “Cady, it’s your birthday”. Oh well. The point still got across.

Lucy was definitely the center of attention with two sets of grandparents and one set of great-grandparents in attendance. She was pretty grumpy since she didn’t have a nap, but she eventually fell asleep while Grandpa Al was holding her.

After Joe’s parents left, Joe, Lucy and I headed to the Imagination Station and Greenway in Collegedale. I had been looking forward to letting Lucy swing in the baby swings, but we hadn’t had a weekend when we’d been up there that wasn’t either cold or rainy. I finally got my chance. I think she liked it.

The Greenway was packed, as it usually is on Saturday afternoons. We didn’t walk the entire length, but it was still nice. We stopped at one point to take some pictures.

It was a fun weekend, and the best part is that I still have four days before I’m out of my 20’s.
