joe and i are going to be mentors at the children’s shelter in bartow county. we’re excited. the kids are excited. it’s really touching when they run out to our car to meet us or when we walk in and their eyes light up. one girl actually seemed surprised that we showed up last thursday like we said we would. we have so much fun playing basketball and video games, eating snacks, watching tv and just talking with them. it’s only a couple of hours out of our day, but it means so much to them. i can’t wait to go back…provided we pass our background checks. 😉
