This morning, I looked up SportsMagick on the Better Business Bureau’s Web site. It has an unsatisfactory rating with nine unanswered complaints, five of which were regarding delivery and refund issues. I guess I’m not the first person to be scammed by that company. It’s one thing to be scammed, but to be scammed at Christmas really bothers me. And, I hate knowing that I will never see my order *or* my refund. At least I’ve learned now to check out any new businesses I find online.

If you paid by credit card, I would call them up and cancel they payment. It’s within your right to do this if never received the items you purchased.
Grrrr. I try to remember to do the credit card thing–but generally when i am buying giofts the chance of things going wrong is not foremost in my mind.
@owen – i paid through paypal, and i’ve already filed a dispute with them.
@vein – it’s not the first thing i think about either.
Ugh. This is so frustrating. I can’t believe these people. I hope the PayPal dispute works out, and that you are able to find something else for your dad!
If you paid via credit card or paypal you have the right to stop the payment and with each service you will be required to fill out an affidavit and send it back in and normally within 30 days you will have your money back.
You will definitely be taken care of by paypal, but that doesn’t change the fact that you were cheated or that you had to go through the hassle….or that it created an emergency gift run for your dad at Christmas time—
I hate shady people….it’s sad what some will to to get money these days!!
Well the best thing you can do now is just what you did, blog about it. Word of mouth is a very powerful thing!!
I hope you get it all settled quickly! I am sure Dad will be happy with anything you get him. Good Luck…. sorry you have to brave the crowds! Happy HOlidays.
Ya…I hate all the scams on the internet. It’s hard to know what is legit. I was googling something and seem to have found a virus. I can usually get out of it, but it is really limiting my time on line. Opening windows I didn’t click on.
Messing good with Firefox and explorer. So, I try to get through with what I have to…then shut down.
@jess – i was able to find something else. i hope i get my money back, but i’m not really counting on it.
@scott – i filed a dispute with paypal which i will turn into a claim in 20 days. i hope they can help me.
@maureen – that’s exactly my thoughts. i don’t even care as much about the money i spent as i do about the fact that my dad’s gift was ruined.
@sara – sigh. i know.
@julie – that’s why i linked to them three times. 🙂
@christina – i know he doesn’t care what i get him, but i want to get something that shows thought, not something i had to pick up at the last second because of this.
@barbara – sorry you got a virus.
