I finally received my Enbrel today after two missed shipments. That’s exactly the reason I wish my insurance company didn’t require that I order it from a mail order pharmacy.
Last week, I got my medicine ordered after dealing with an unexpected preauthorization request from my insurance company. I placed the order Thursday and was told I would receive it on Friday. Friday rolled around, and my medicine didn’t arrive. I called the pharmacy and spoke with my rep who said, “Oh, I just didn’t get around to sending it yesterday.”
That’s like me saying, “I just didn’t get around to doing the 5 p.m. news today, but I’ll do it tomorrow, I promise.”
I set my medicine up to ship on Friday and arrive on Saturday, and the rep was quite rude when I asked her a second time just to make sure we were on the same page.
Guess what I *didn’t* receive on Saturday — my medicine. I called Caremark on my way to my parents’ house and spoke with a supervisor, who said that the rep had noted on my account that she had promised me Saturday delivery but had set it up for a Monday shipment. He told me he would personally walk my prescription to the pharmacy Monday morning and take it to the shipping area and scan it in himself.
So, I received my medicine this morning. Along with another poor man’s Enbrel. The package was addressed to me, but when I opened it, the packing slip had his name and a lower dosage. I called the pharmacy and told them what had happened. The woman who answered said, “Wow, how did we screw *that* up?”
I can tell them.
Sheesh. That could be really bad for someone in desperate need of their medicine. That gal was totally irresponsible.
Sounds like they don’t know what they are doing-good thing it wasn’t a life or death situation. My sister takes Embrel- she takes it for phoriasis(spelled wrong!). It’s really strong…

That could be very dangerous…I would be complaining all the way to the top. Especially getting someone else’s meds, and the wrong dose. No excuse for that!
karen – i know. what the medicine they were shipping was for something more serious??
maureen – enbrel is used for several conditions. it’s a good thing i could wait a few days for it. you never know if it’s for something serious or not.
bhing – i was told she was going to be talked to. i hope so. working in a pharmacy is a serious job.
barbara – the pharmacy supervisor called me today to talk about how they’ve messed up lately. i hope things like this won’t happen to other patients in the future!
I hate hate hate caremark… they suck… every time I have to deal with them and have issues (which is every time) I tell them they work for the devil… and I mean it… sometimes I think it is worth the higher cost to just get it from the local drug store… I don’t need 3m of my drugs laying around… oh yeah they have sent me expired meds before in the mail… and then charged me again to resend out the drugs… argh hate them!!!
I hate, detest handling my meds. I’m so sorry you had to deal with this. Our insurance company switched from Caremark to Medco because of the many complaints and problems like you had. They are the worst!
That wasn’t very nice of that lady!! Hope you got it straightened out!! No fun when the Company you expect to do it right doesn’t!! Hope it is all in order now!@
