since president bush signed the economic stimulus plan, the treasury chief says checks will start going out in may. the plan is expected distribute approximately $150 billion to millions of americans who file 2007 income tax returns. the one-time rebate checks will be sent out to 117 million low-to-moderate income residents. people who file their income taxes individual could receive up to $600 while those filing jointly could receive up to $1,200. an additional $300 will be given for each dependant child. and, we’re not supposed to have to pay the money back. rather, the rebate will be used as a tax credit for next year’s tax return. that’s another bonus.

as i’ve said before, i’ll believe it when i see it, but i will say that i’m glad we’ve already filed our tax return. maybe ours will be one of the earlier checks.
