feeling down

i’ve been feeling very “blah” lately. i think a lot of it has to do with my weight. people call me “pleasantly plump” and then tell me i shouldn’t have low self-esteem. and i keep fluctuating on the scale, down a pound then back up. i just can’t break that cycle, and it’s really depressing. take today, for example. my morning weigh-in showed me up 2 pounds from yesterday, which is impossible. that would mean i would have had to have eaten an extra 7,000 calories. like i said, impossible. with the workouts i do every day and staying within my calorie range i should be dropping weight consistently.

i’m going to the doctor on march 10. i’m really hoping something is wrong with my thyroid. i know that sounds odd, but it would explain why i just can’t seem to lose weight and there would be a solution.

and maybe i need to go to a psychologist because i think that a lot of how i feel is in my head. maybe figuring out what is triggering these feelings will help. i don’t know. i guess we’ll see.

I was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism in January, and one of the things that my endocrinologist told me is that he gets lots and lots of people who come in hoping that they have a thyroid problem because it would explain a lot. And it’s a diagnosis I was really relieved to get. So I don’t think it sounds odd at all.

Anyway, I hope that the doctor will be able to help you and that you’ll start feeling less down soon.

Also, I SO want the password to your last post because I am wildly curious!

If you think you have a thyroid problem, then it could be causing all sorts of issues. My dad has a thyroid issue that he only found out about a couple of years ago, and they realized it was having strong effects on his mental state. Even if you do have a thyroid problem, the psychologist thought isn’t something I’d rule out. Sometimes it’s just good to get it all out.

    Hey Cady,
I was really moved by this blog. For so long, I, too, had issues with my weight bouncing back and forth for no reason. Work outs made me feel better but didn’t really do much to make me look better…and that REALLY got to me. I ended up seeing a counselor and she suggested that I get on a anxiety/depression med that worked wonders on getting my whole “self” back in order. A cool side effect was that I immediately dropped a few pounds…(I gained it back when I started dating again) but still. It was very cool. I yearned for the whole Thyroid issue as well being it runs in our family quite rampantly…but to no avail for me…at least for now. It seems to like to creep up on us when we aren’t looking. I’m thinking about you, cuz and want nothing but the best for you. Hearing you worry and stress breaks my heart… so keep me posted… Love ya heaps, Em

    ps. whats the password ???

This may be bad advice, but I might suggest not getting on the scale. Perhaps if you just focus on being consistent with your eating habits and some exercise, you will begin to feel the difference and not be overly concerned about the numbers on the scale. For me, I have certainly trimmed down recently but the scale barely shows it. And it took a few months of consistent portion control and exercise for me to even notice a difference. But it is different for everyone, and if you are experiencing a lot of fluctuation, perhaps it could be something with your thyroid.

I’m so sorry you’re feeling down. I hope you get the answers you need from your dr. appt. You’re fine just the way you are but I completely understand what you’re going thru~I’ve experienced weiight issues as well. Keep your chin up~it’ll get better 🙂

for years I dealt with that same problem… watched what I ate… worked out 3 to 5 times a week and would gain 20 pounds in a month…

I don’t think it is in your head… but don’t let this get you down… to me there is always a reason for things like this… if everything come back normal maybe test to see if you are allergic to any foods… but maybe check out a nutritionist… but it will work its way out!!

It’s been 15 years since we said “I do”, and It’s been 15 years since we said “I do”, and where do I even begin? We’ve had some amazing times, some not so great ones, and we really put the “in sickness and in health” part of our vows to the test this last year. This man is always willing to get my pain pills in the middle of the night, has helped me through Covid recovery and does everything I can’t without complaint. He’s also the funniest person I know and can always make me laugh, and he’s pretty hot, too. I am a lucky woman to call him my husband. Here’s to many more years of happily ever after. I love you! ❤️❤️
