despite my reservations, i had a lot of fun at our 10-year high school reunion. sure, the girls who were snobby back then were still snobby, but as joe pointed out, they hung out with the people they did in high school just as i spent the day with my high school friends. i really hadn’t thought about it that way, but it really made sense.
after the church service in the academy’s auditorium, we had a potluck lunch in the gym during which the honor classes had their pictures taken. i was surprised at how few of my classmates attended this year’s alumni weekend. we all wore our photo name tags, but we all look the same has we did back then.
after lunch, joe and i hung out with ryan and oriona for a little while, and then we met up with penny and christi, two of my best friends from high school, and penny’s husband, will, and christi’s boyfriend, eric. it was the first time i’d met eric, and i really liked him. he got along really well with all of us, and he’s just so much fun. plus, he makes my friend happy, which is important.
on saturday night, our class met up for dinner at big river grille. even though the set menu was incredibly overpriced, it was still fun to get to hang out with everyone again in a different setting. the girl who organized the dinner told me both during the potluck and at dinner that i was lucky that my husband stayed. her husband left both early, and some spouses only attended one event or didn’t attend either. i am very lucky that my husband cares enough to hang out with me and my friends, and hearing that made me very proud.
it was also fun to share my honor year with my brothers. since they’re five years younger than me, we’ll always have the same honor year, which is awesome. i think they had more classmates show up for their five-year reunion than we did for our 10-year!

It was lots of fun. And you were the prettiest one there! 🙂
It sounds like you had fun…that’s great!
How neat! It’s funny… for years I couldn’t WAIT for a reunion. Now, with every passing year, I care less about it. In another two, I probably won’t want to go. 😉
re: your hubby’s comment above– what a sweetheart!!
You give me hope for my reunion!
Your brothers are too cute. 🙂
Awww cool! I should have gone just to see everyone. I liked more of your class anyways. 😉
Looks like you had fun. My 10 year reunion is in August, but not sure if I will go. I never realized all the people that I know from your class!
i don’t know why but i am so nervous for my high school reunion. i mean, i see who i want to see now and keep in touch with who i want to. but it would be interesting to see how people have changed.
and you ARE lucky joe stays with you for things like that 🙂
