Dear Lucy,
Today you are one year old. One year. It’s still hard for me to believe that a year has already gone by. You are such a joy to be around. You constantly make me laugh, and I love all the time we get to spend together. Yesterday, we celebrated your birthday at Sabbath School, and you were very interested in the plastic cake with the flaming candle that were put in front of you. You were very well-behaved, though, and didn’t try to touch the candle!

You’ve started doing high-fives. We hold up our hands and say, “High five!” and you respond by touching our hands and saying, “I fi”. It is the cutest thing EVER. You never get tired of doing it, and you look so proud of yourself.

You are still completely and totally obsessed with Tigger. And, of course, you had a Tigger birthday party! Every night after we read to you, we show you Tigger, and you go CRAZY with excitement. You wave your hands and squeal like you’re a teenage girl at a boy band concert. It’s hilarious.

You love to eat. It’s your favorite thing besides Tigger, yet you don’t gain a lot of weight. Mommy sure wishes she had that problem! You’re still wearing mainly 9 month clothes with some 12 month clothes sprinkled in. Your 9 month jeans are starting to get a little snug on you. Maybe you’ll be out of them by the time you turn 13 months old. 🙂

This last month, you finished your first ultramarathon. Of course, you didn’t START the race, but you did cross the finish line with your Daddy. It was the one thing he’s always wanted to do with you, and it made him so happy to run across the finish with you. You were really proud of it, too.

Lucy Jane, you are the light of my life. You make every day so much happier (even when you frustrate me!), and I can’t imagine my life without you. This first year has been such a great year, and I know year two will be even better. I love you more than life itself.
