my mom told me some sad news today. steve and barry’s is filing for bankruptcy. what a bummer. according to that story, the reason for the bankruptcy was opening too many stores and hiring too many employees, and having such low prices, which start at $10.
i’ve only been to steve and barry’s once, as the closest stores are in chattanooga and duluth, and even though i didn’t find a lot that fit me well, i totally fell in love with the jeans on sarah jessica parker’s bitten line. they fit so well, and are really inexpensive. that and jewelry are the only things i’ve bought there so far.
apparently, steve and barry’s stores aren’t going to be closing. i hope not. just to be safe, though, i may have to go stock up on jeans.

I have never heard of them… but their website shows they are going to open another store here in PA… I think I will try to check them out this weekend… one in KOP and Lancaster… hummmm…
There’s only one store here in So Cal and it is El-Sucko so I won’t miss them. However, good-fitting jeans on a woman are hard to find so I am all for stocking up. It’s always nice to have an excuse to shop!!
Every time I’ve been to Steve & Barry’s everything in the store was priced at $8.99…everything from panties to jeans to shoes to coats for nine bucks. I got my husband dress pants and jeans…awesome deals. I’ve never gotten myself anything there…not too keen on paying nine bucks for underwear, and any time I’ve been there I’ve been hoping to get pregnant, so I didn’t want to spend money on regular clothing. I think the location in Chatt.anooga is terrible. No one goes shopping in that area…it’s always dead in there. If they’d put it in Hix.son or out by Ham.ilton Place it would have been a lot more successful.
I love Steve & Barry’s. I first went there when I lived in SoCal. I loved the prices, but not everything fits well. Gotta be picky. I was excited to find that Chattanooga has one. I’ve already been there 🙂
Oh no! I love that store! I hope that their solution to bankruptcy won’t be to jack up their prices.
Wow. I had no idea that they were even in financial trouble. I went to their stores here and there over a few years, but not recently, I think there is one kind of far from us now.
