Can you believe it’s almost time for Halloween again? Sure, it’s a little more than a month away, but the Halloween stores are opening up and everyone is gearing up. I cannot wait until I have a little boy or girl to dress up for Halloween. I always loved dressing up when I was a kid, and my mom made most of my Halloween costumes, which I loved. One year, she made three crayon costumes for me and two of my friends. I would love to be able to make costumes for my kids, but since I can’t even make my crochet projects turn out straight, I don’t think sewing costumes is in the cards for me.
Lucky for me, there are Halloween costume stores! There is one nearby in Kennesaw, and I love going there to look at what they have in stock. Now, I am not one to dress up because, frankly, I’m not creative enough. Last year, we went to a friend’s Halloween party and the theme was movie characters. I dressed as Andie Anderson from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days by throwing my press pass around my neck. Now, granted, she’s one of my favorite characters, but it wasn’t exactly a creative costume. I’d like to start getting into dressing up again, especially when we have kids. That’s why I love these stores that are dedicated to costumes. I’m much more of a buying the store than online person because I can see exactly what I’m looking at and make sure it’s what I want.
Do you dress up? What’s been your favorite costume for either you or you child?
I usually dress up to hand out candy. Greg will too! I’ve been an indian while Greg was a cowboy. We made the poncho from “Fist Full Of Dollars” for him, got a fake cigar and gun and a hat. Was a hit at the Halloween party. We’ve also done Guinivere and King Arthur. I was little dead riding hood one year, a flapper, a 50’s girl and Greg was a greaser.
The girls have been a lot of things! Jacqueline was a cat for years, then a dog! After that she went to high school and was a pirate, geisha, warrior. Jessica was a devil, tiger, witch, cheerleader.
Violet was a cow last year. I think I will be little dead riding hood again this year. This is first year that we’re in the new place.
