On one episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the crew put a movie room in the new house because the family loves to watch movies with each other and with their friends. Ever since I saw that, I thought it would be so neat to have a movie room in our house, complete with a popcorn machine and home theater sconces. We’d definitely be the cool kids on the block.
I think often about what I want in our next house. We won’t be moving for several years (and really, who can sell their houses now??), but I love thinking about our next house. I always have so much fun looking at houses as I drive around town and picking out the ones that I like. I love the brick exterior we have now, but I also like stone and siding. I definitely want at least a two-story house with at least 3 bedrooms, preferrably 4. The big thing is that it would have to have a finished basement. I need somewhere to house my scrap area, our workout equipment and, of course, our movie area! It also must have a large kitchen with room for an island, a breakfast nook and a separate dining room. I really miss having a dining room. What I would love to do is buy a piece of property and have the house built. That way I can have everything the way I want it. You can never find *exactly* what you dream of in houses that are already built.
So what do you want in your next house?
I always love watching Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I think my dream house would have to have my own office. I’m simple.
A movie room sounds like a great idea, not so sure about the popcorn though as I would not be able to stop chomping it. I would love to have a house built from scratch as that way you could make it perfect.
my dream home would have 4 bedrooms so family could stay over, a nice secure garden for the kids, workshop for the hubby and a nice bathroom for me to escape to soak in a nice bubble bath
mmmm dream home…. in the country lots of land… greenhouses, chickens, pigs, cow or two…. lots of land. Oh.. the house… one story humongous gathering room. atrium green house. covered porches… visitor/mil wing……. a master suite with sitting room… there might be more in this dream… let me tell you when i wake up!
i will want a bbq pit so that i can have parties every weekend, lol! and you are all invited of course!
I need a wall knocked out to make the kitchen area extend into the living room! As it is we never use our huge living room, and our kitchen (where we all gather of course) is tiny.
Grab your chain saw and come on over!
I don’t image the interior of my dream home as much as I image its location. I would love to be near the ocean, so that I can take long walks on the beach.
As for a dream home it would need to be located near the ocean, 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, indoor pool, and rec area. I would need a three car garage for two cars and a few water sport toys. The master bedroom would face the ocean and the complete wall would be tinted glass to overlook the ocean scape, so that you would have an excellent view from the living room and as well from the master bedroom. On the other adjacent wall in the master bedroom would be a balcony with french doors which would have a view of the ocean as well. I am really into the tranquil settings as you may see and have several more idea written down, but maybe just a bit too much for a comment, so thanks for the post.
With my luck, my dream home would turn into a nightmare.
I prefer small, open plan houses, like cottages–so there is one multi use area wnere everyonr spends time together.
The house that we’re in now that we built 4 years ago this coming March, is our perfect home~we don’t ever plan to move (our 5 acres was given to us by Bobby’s dad 😉 ).
The only thing I would want to add, which we’re going to try to do soon, is to make our entertainment room/office bigger. And, by entertainment room, I mean playroom but Justin says he’s too old for a playroom 😉 Right now, it’s a combo room & we have some of Kendall’s toys, a tv & entertainment center, playstation & gamecube, games & movies in there as well as my desk, office chair & filing cabinet.
So, yeah, we don’t want another house or location~just to add on to the entertainment room/office 🙂
I would like a huge bedroom with soundproof walls. I would then be able to read without hearing the tv in another room.
