We finally got our house decorated for the holidays. It’s a little later than I prefer, but with how crazy life has been lately, getting it done before Christmas is a feat for us. Yesterday, we got our tree after I got off work. We got a really nice one, and it’s so nice to have a live tree again. The artificial ones just don’t do it for me.
We spent the afternoon and evening decorating the tree and our living room while watching “Surviving Christmas”. In my opinion, you can’t decorate for the holidays while watching or listening to something other than Christmas music or movies. I think it all turned out quite well.
AJ had to take a break from all the decorating fun.

This year, I got two new things: a nativity scene and an Advent calendar. My parents always had an Advent calendar, and I enjoyed putting an ornament on the tree for each day leading up to Christmas. Mine is different than theirs, but I still love it, and it still brings back great memories.
Another first for us this year was putting up a tree in our bedroom. I love Christmas trees, and since we have the artificial one from last year, we thought we’d put it up as well. It’s small enough and fits in our room perfectly. It’s so pretty when we turn the lights on at night.

And, of course, we had to take a family picture by the tree. The cats are not big on family pictures.
After several attemps of taking one while I held AJ and Callie and Joe held Dizzy, we finally got one when Callie was laying under the tree on her own. That really helped.

And, one of just us.

Decorating is one of my favorite parts of the holidays. What’s yours?
Everything looks great…but that pillow of us, really creeps me out. Sometimes I think the pillow version of you is judging me when I eat chocolate in the living room. :0
Very nice decorations. I dig em!
Might sound silly but I enjoy reading Christmas stories on Christmas eve with my family.
Your tree is beautiful as well as your decorations. I like the pillow w/you & Joe on it~that’s neat~never thought of doing that before! Where did you get it done? Also ♥ the family pics 🙂
I ♥ decorating for CHRISTmas, sending & receiving cards, CHRISTmas music, watching CHRISTmas movies, getting together w/family, watching the magic of CHRISTmas thru my children’s eyes~~just to name a few.
After reading your blog for such a lonnnnng time, it finally occurred to me who you remind me of:
Ann Hathaway!
You could be her twin!!
how cute! I did get a little sad there was a kitty missing 🙁 RIP Julius…
I love the twiggy tree in your bedroom. Too cute.
Everything looks great— wow, your cats are HUGE! They are adorable!!
It looks really pretty! 😀 I am jealous. We only just finished our tree yesterday, and nothing else is done.
@living – thanks! i love sitting in front of it at night with the lights on.
@maureen – thanks! our cats are kind of fat. we love them though. they’re cuties!
@corrin – thanks. i’m really enjoying having a tree in there this year.
@sara – i did too. it’s sad this year. we miss him a lot.
@casey – really? wow, i’d never really thought about that. 🙂
@connie – my grandmother gave us that pillow last christmas. i have no idea where she got it. i love all those things about christmas too. i think my favorite part is watching people open the gifts i picked out for them. i love seeing their reactions!
