We took a quick trip to Savannah for Memorial Day weekend and, though we were stuck in our hotel room most of Sunday because of Tropical Storm Beryl, we had a great time.
We met up with Joe’s family and other members of his mom’s family for her aunt’s 80th birthday party. It was a lot of fun hanging out with everyone and staying in the same hotel.
On, the way, we stopped at Chick-fil-A’s Dwarf House for breakfast. Lucy was a little unsure about the tiny door at first, but then she really seemed to like it.

We arrived Saturday afternoon and hit the pool for a little bit before getting ready for dinner. I wish I had gotten pictures or videos of the girls in the water. Rivka was didn’t want her face getting wet at all, while Lucy was jumping in the 4-foot section not even caring if anyone was there to catch her. We’d let her jump into the water so she went completely under and then would pull her up. And, she would ask for more. I know, you’re surprised.
That night, dinner was at a seafood place. The food was OK, but the company was great. The girls played out on the deck a bit, and we saw an alligator! That was pretty neat.

The girls even got to feed the alligator! The restaurant had dispensers of food for it, and apparently, that’s how it can live peacefully with all the turtles in the water.

Seriously, how cute are these girls together??

Sunday was a pretty lazy morning for us since we didn’t have time to do much. We got a little bit of peace and quiet when Grandma and Grandpa took the girls to Krispy Kreme.

After we all got ready, we headed to visit a friend of Joe’s grandmother’s, and then we all went over to another restaurant for Aunt Francine’s birthday lunch. Her boys did a fabulous job setting up for it, and there were fun M&Ms with Francine’s picture on them for favors!

Aunt Francine and her boys.

Nana (Joe’s grandma) brought the girls some Sesame Street color-on books, so that helped pacify them during the 1.5 hour wait between when we arrived and when they got their food.

After we all finally ate, it was time for cake, the part that Lucy had been waiting for all night. The cakes were from a bakery here in Atlanta and ohmygosh they were SO GOOD!

And, we got some cute family pics as well!

After lunch and a nap, Joe and his mom headed out for pizza and provisions in preparation for Tropical Storm Beryl. It was super windy all day, and the wind continued picking up as the day went on, and around 11 p.m. the rain hit. Unfortunately, it only lasted about 30 minutes. We were hoping for more of a rain storm.
It was a quick but fun trip. We want to go back next year and have time to really take Lucy around the city.
