what? an unprotected post?! haha.

my dinner on sabbath went quite well. my family was about 45 minutes early, so i wasn’t ready at all. my mom jumped in and washed the dishes in my sink (thanks mom!), and then she and my grandmother opened presents. the brothers and i gave my parents a sharebook. it’s a neat scrapbook that several people create. the organizer sends pages to everyone with everything already included, they send them back and then you put them right in. it’s incredibly easy and fun. my parents loved it.

for my grandmother, i made a family scrapbook. i did about 30 pages in two days, which is a record for me, and i have to say, it looked really good. she loved it.

the meal was a huge success. i made lasagna, tomato and basil pasta, corn and garlic bread. for dessert, i made a coconut cake. i couldn’t really taste the coconut, but everyone said it was really good. there are only 2 pieces left, so it must have been! i only have four chairs that match my dining room table (my parents have two at their place still), so randy and joe sat on bar stools. joe told randy it was probably the only time he’d eat on fine china while sitting on bar stool. hehe.

after dinner, my grandma gave me a belt that had belonged to her grandmother. it’s always hung in her house, and now she wants it to hang in mine. it was a very special gift for me. the entire belt is in this picture. the belt is 21 inches long. seriously, that’s how tiny my great-great-grandmother was. i’m going to have to take a picture of it hooked together so you can really get a feel for how small it is.

i love hosting meals, especially for family. next up is having joe’s parents over.
