Lucy has never really been a good napper. She sleeps around 10 hours straight at night, which we are obviously thrilled about, but it’s very difficult to get her to nap during the day, which results in a very cranky baby.

Sometimes, she’ll fall asleep while sitting in her bouncer in the living room, but those naps are pretty short. Yesterday, she fell asleep while I was holding her and napped for 1 1/2 hours, but the moment I put her down, her eyes snapped open.

This morning, she woke up at 6, so when she started rubbing her eyes and showing signs of being sleepy around 7:40, I decided to go ahead and put her in her room and try our luck. She’s at the age now where it’s OK to let her cry it out, and that’s my plan as I try to train her to take naps.

She cried for about two minutes before she was out, and she slept for about two hours. Hooray! She woke up about halfway through and cried for a couple of minutes, but then went back to sleep. It’s a good first step to getting on a good nap schedule, and hopefully she’ll be a bit more cheery today.
