this friday night is the georgia association of broadcasters’ awards banquet. our station is winning something (we don’t know what or how many) and since it’s being held close to home, we’re all going. it’s a pretty fancy event, and i really want to make a good impression, so i need help deciding which dress to wear. i woud love to wear one of my black cocktail dresses, but i feel reall self conscious about my stomach in them. it’s the stupid side views that bum me out. haha. and please, pardon my glasses and my messy hair. i was in my pj’s headed to bed when i decided to do this.
a)
as i said, i love my black cocktail dresses, but i just feel so self conscious about my stomach in this one (as you can see in the second picture).
b)
i feel more comfortable in this dress, but i don’t know that it’s dressy enough.
c)
i think i’m leaning toward this one. i feel comfortable in it and it hides my stomach. it’s not a cocktail dress, but i think it’s still fancy enough. it’s a lot more flowey than it looks. however, i don’t have any jewelry to wear with it. and is the brown with my brown hair too blah?
d)
this dress has always been my favorite. i still think you can see my stomach though in it. i wish i could remember how it fit the last time i wore it!
now it’s your turn. tell me which one is your favorite and which one you hate. you won’t hurt my feelings!

I think #3 is great and it seems dressy enough to me. I’d pair it with some sassy gold jewelry if you have any. I bet you could find some on clearance at Kohls or Penneys or something too…
Also, just for your own comfort you could wear Spanx (or generic spanx). I always feel better when I wear mine!
i was going to suggest spanx as well. they are amazing!
i like the black the best (and don’t think your stomach looks big – although i think you should feel great in what you wear so if it bothers you, it doesn’t matter that i think it is fine.
otherwise, i think the brown looks good too.
My #1 choice is brown, #2 choice is the first black one, browns your color -looks good!
It depends on how “fancy” the event is. The brown & blue aren’t really cocktail dresses but they are fine for a dinner. I really think the black ones look fabulous on you! And you can wear some cute jewelry and totally rock the little black dress look!

I actually really like the brown; it seems to fit you very well. If it’s a black tie only event then I’m not sure. The last black dress looks too big for you to me…so I think I’d go with the first black dress if it’s a really fancy event.
I like the brown one best – but like you said dress it up with some brown or even gold jewlery?? The last black one is my 2nd pick!

I wish I could see where the first black dress dress hits you. It’s hard to tell w/o seeing all the way down but I like that one. I think you’re too critical about your stomach, but I just bought a pair of spanx & they really are as great as people say! A worthwhile investment. Anyway, I do like the brown dress, too. It would look nice w/some big sexy thin gold hoops. The blue dress is too conservative for a dressy party.
I like the final black one… maybe you could jazz it up with some red heels or something?
I actually think you look very slim in ALL of them. So, since they all look flattering, my pick is “A”. There is no.such.thing. as too fancy for an event such as this. I think the other ones look a bit too casual and this is a rare chance to network with a myriad of people in your field so yu def want to be taken seriously. I think you’re your own worst critic as most women are. You have no “gut” to speak of and everything looked good. Pat yourself on the back and wear the dress with pride!!

I’m totally of a different opinion than everyone else! I *love* the black dresses. Those are my favorites. But … you should dress in what makes you feel most comfortable!!!
