Sweet Tea & Day Dreams

April 6, 2009

Relief

Everything appears to be normal today. During the u/s, the sonographer pointed out the distinctive gestational and yolk sacs but said it was too early to see the baby. However, everything was right where it should be (no ectopic pregnancy), and she said my u/s is one that would be seen in a textbook for 5w5d. She said 90 percent of women spot during the first trimester and that today’s u/s was to make sure everything was positioned correctly.

I, of course, was still not too comforted because I wanted to see my baby. I asked several questions, including what it would look like if I was miscarrying (the gestational sac would be smushed rather than “perfect” like mine is), and I think the sonographer tattled on me because after I got dressed, the IVF coordinator came in and gave me a lecture about freaking out and worrying too much. Doesn’t she understand I’m going to worry throughout the first trimester??

Gift Guide

There’s a reason why that woman scares me. I always seem to get in trouble with her. When we left the office, Joe said, “You’re in TROUBLE. You have to go to time out.”

So all is well so far. We go back for our regularly scheduled u/s on Friday when we are supposed to see the heartbeat. It amazes me that the baby can grow that much in just a few days.

Where does the coordinator get off treating you like that? Last I checked, you pay her salary. Given the conditions under which women seek IVF, you’d think she’d have a little more compassion. In my book, she should be going out of her way to comfort you and make sure your concerns are met with suitable answers.

Even if they were joking, I think it’s unfair to get on you about worrying. Even if this was your tenth child, I think you have ever right to be concerned and want to know that everything is fine. We all know they aren’t doing this for free, every time you come in they get paid, so I hope it doesn’t keep you from calling every time you need answers.

I’m really glad everything is ok 🙂

It’s definitely normal for you to worry. How can you not, especially with all you’ve been through just to get where you are now. Worrying obviously doesn’t help, but it’s not something you can really help.

If it makes you feel better, when I went in to see how far along I was with Alexa they said that I was at 6 weeks but there was no heartbeat. Of course I freaked out, but a week later, there was a nice strong heartbeat. It is early, so you just keep getting your rest & taking care of yourself!

With all that it’s taken to get you & Joe where you are, there’s going to be some worry in the back of your mind~they should expect & understand that!

I’m SO glad everything was well w/the u/s 🙂 It will be SO exciting when you guys hear the heartbeat on Friday 🙂

I’m so glad that everything’s OK! Sorry that it was too early to see the baby just yet. When I had my first ultrasound with Meredith, I was only eight or so weeks along ~ and there was definitely a baby visible in there, so yes, they can grow SO quickly within a matter of days! Can’t wait until Friday. You are going to cry like, well, a baby when you hear that wonderful heartbeat.

I’m glad you went in and got it checked out. Those first few months are filled with so much worry. You need to be your own advocate when it comes to your peace of mind, and it sounds like you’re doing that.

Those first weeks are just plain terrifying at times. Just remember to take care of yourself and rest. It’s the best thing you can do for all of you.

You’re allowed to kill your husband in circumstances like that. Sure, you’d have one more worry about being a mom — but … yeah. We’ll help dig the hole if you make that decision!

We conferred and texted Joe: If your guys’ marriage can survive -that-, you’re in pretty good shape!

This man is always willing to get my pain pills in the middle of the night, has helped me through Covid recovery and does everything I can’t without complaint. He’s also the funniest person I know and can always make me laugh, and he’s pretty hot, too. I am a lucky woman to call him my husband. Here’s to many more years of happily ever after. I love you! ❤️❤️
