I love Thanksgiving. Not only do I enjoy spending time with both sides of our families, but I love, love, love Thanksgiving dinner. My family has the same thing for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and I never get tired of it. Our meal traditionally includes Worthington Turkee Slices folded up with stuffing in the middle, mashed potatoes, wild rice with vegetarian chicken, veggies and dessert. The turkee slices are a great alternative to real turkey, and they’re really pretty good.
Last night, my dad told me that Worthington has discontinued the turkee slices. With only a few days to go before Thanksgiving, we’re scrambling trying to find something to replace it. We found some kind of vegetarian turkey loaf, but I’m not really holding high hopes for it. I’m bummed because there’s really nothing else on the market to replace the turkee slices. My mom joked that Worthington officials are trying to turn us all to eating meat.
At least one member of our family will have turkee slices for the holidays. My mom sent several cans back to Taiwan with Oriona when she came to visit in September. I sure hope Ryan rations them!

Have you tried tofurkey? I haven’t, but I know someone who eats that for their Thanksgiving dinner. I hope you find a delicious alternative!

What a bummer! Nothing worse than breaking tradition. At least, that’s what I’m assuming since we have no traditions in my family.
Is the entire family vegetarian? If so, what does Joe eat for Thanksgiving? And if you go to his parent’s house, what do you eat? I’d bring my own food! Ha!! Good luck with the faux turkey log.

WHAT!!! I love those turkey slices! My family eats those for Thanksgiving too! There’s nothing else like them on the market. Why does Worthington keep discontinuing all the good stuff. I still miss their Country Stew!

I’ve never heard of them but they seem like a great alternative to meat – sorry they are being discontinued!
